Review by Paulos
"Perhaps one of Sega Genesis' best Fighting Action games."
This game earns far more than 1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s on scoring boards! Primal Rage you could say is a much different game than most people would usually see in the video game area. You would usually think a fighting game with prehistoric creatures sounds a bit dull, but in the specific system it was released on, and its genre, it COMPLETELY earns a well gained 9.
Why? Primal Rage sets you far, far back in time, where humans were just small cave men, when enormous monsters and dinosaurs ruled the earth. Each dinosaur creature, has its own land territory, and it is up to you, which you are placed in control of one of these creatures, to steal it away from the other creature by fighting a truly, gory, bloody battle! What a great definition of what it was like in the old dinosaur days! Of course, some areas of the game were not completely realistic, but it came very close.
You can control several beasts that you will recognize from apes that evovled into humans, dinosaurs that were destroyed when a great metorite struck the earth millions of years ago, and some other creatures that you will think that are quite interesting.
Also, this game has a lot of replay value. If you beat the game, killing all of the monsters, you will just want to do it again with another one of the creatures. Each creature has its own humans that serve and worship it too... quite interesting, very, very fascinating.
Graphics: 77%
Words: Graphics in my opinion, were created with the proper lining and colors that would make you see the creature from prehistoric times and run away scared! The graphics of battle mode was done nicely as well, a true fighting game to the Sega Genesis system.
Sound: 94%
Words: PRIMAL RAGE! Prehistoris creature yelling and screaming, lovely music for the certain points of the game.
Replay: 83%
Words: Replay is something that makes this game truly shine to earn its great score, the fact is you will just want to take control of all the creatures and battle them! You can even battle with a friend in 2 player v.s. mode!
Gameplay: 96%
Words: What gameplay! With the Sega Genesis controller buttons, and this game cartridge, who knows what great things can happen with the fun factor.
Story: 64%
Words: Story is history, heh. You control a creature who wants to slay the other prehistoric dinosaurs and monsters to take over other lands of the earth, eventually becoming the greatest creature in history.
Characters: 82%
Words: The characters... what characters! You can control a T rex, an overgrown ape, and many more prehistoric creatures!
Final Words: Sounds like a good game you may think, it is a GREAT game for fighting, especially for those who like the older, prehistoric type of dinosaurs. Enjoy! Buy it wherever you can find it, if it is for $20, get it!
