Review by Da Jerk

"A nice collection of Sega's classics."

Late in the Genesis' life, Sega was struggling in the video game market. The add-on machines, the Sega CD and 32X had failed big time. Also, the Saturn was being whipped by the N64 and PlayStation. During that time, Sega wanted to go back to their glory days, the days of 16-bit. They released a cartridge for the Genesis with their six best-selling games; Sonic the Hedgehog, Revenge of Shinobi, Golden Axe, Columns, Streets of Rage and Super Hang-On. Well, kiddies, that's the game we're going to talk about today, one game at a time.

Sonic the Hedgehog-10
This is the game that started the legend. It's great! The graphics, the music, but the what defines Sonic is of course, his speed. It's amazing looking at other games at that time and then playing Sonic. That's enough to give it a high score.

Revenge of Shinobi-8
You're a martial artist in Japan. You're girlfriend has been captured by the Neo Zeed army! Now you have to search the country for them to save their beautiful prisoner. This is a hard game, but it is fun to play when you're bored.

Golden Axe-10
A terrible villain named Death Adder has killed a number of people and tied up the king and queen! Now you must go to the castle and defeat him. Choose from 3 warriors who lost a loved one and defeat his army! You can also ride dragons and giant armadillos (?) to whip enemies to dust.

Columns-8
Columns is Sega's answer to Tetris. I thought there was no story, until I read the manual.

Go back in time to a bygone civilization, the ancient world of Phoenicia. Play the game that originated among the Phoenician merchants-Columns. It is simple, yet captivating and intricate.

This game is basically like Tetris. When 4 jewels of the same color are lined up (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) they will disappear, along with others in the line of the same color. Also, when a magic jewel lands on a jewel, all jewels that color disappear. Overall, an addicting game.

Streets of Rage-9
The city has been taken over by an evil crime organization! They have infiltrated the city's government, and struck fear into the citizens. But, three noble people go out to eradicate the organization. Streets of Rage and it's sequels are some of the best fighters I ever played. It's the kind of fighter that scrolls along after you defeat some enemies. It is kind of challenging, but fun.

Super Hang-On-7
This is the worst game in the cart, but is still decent. Almost like the predecessor to Road Rash, you race motorcycles across a road to win cash for better bikes (bike parts on this game). However, the controls are slippery and there's no fighting. But the thing that helped this game get a passing score is the option to build your own custom bike.

Overall- 8.666666667 rounded up to 9.
This is a good collection of some of Sega's best games. Sega must like them too, since they made so many collections with most of these games.

Buy, Rent, Borrow, Stay Away?
I would definitely buy this game. There's bound to be a game that you will like in the cart. Unfortunately, it's kind of rare to find. I had to pawn mine off a friend to get it.
