Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Crossroads of Time
Review by genesis monkey
"Fun the first time around"
If you are on a boring four hour long drive, flight, or train ride to some place in the middle of no where then bring along this game and your Nomad. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Crossroads of Time (or DS9 for short) offers some good times if you are into action/ stratedy games or a fan of the Star Trek saga.
Gameplay: 10/10
For those who don't know jack about DS9 the series takes place on a space station at the border of two quadrants of the galaxy near the planet Bajor, which is torn by political chaos and civil war. You control various characters depend on where you are in the game and what you are supposed to do. You must solve puzzles, repair equipment, and locate various tools to help you do so as you talk with other people aboard the station.
Graphics: 10/10
The graphics are smooth, colorful, and very impressive for their time, there is barely any slow-down or choppiness when moving and the movements themselves are fluid and
life-like.
Sound: 10/10
The sounds are pretty realistic for the in-game subjects that generate them, although that is a matter of opinion as this is a science fiction game set centuries into the future.
Music: 8/10
The music in itself is okay, but it pales in comparison to some of the other titles on the Genesis at its time. Aside from that, it sounds appropriate to what is going on when you play the game.
Replayability: 0/10
This is what kills it, when you finish the game it's done. There is no changes if you play it the second time or changable difficulty from what I know.
Spendability: N/A
Considering how old the game is, you'll be lucky to be able to rent it, so if you curious about it, by all means rent it, it is a fun game, but don't waste your time and money trying to find and buy it. If you are a die-hard Star Trek fan, buy it off of E-bay or look for it at a flea market.
Overall: 8/10
This is a fun game that will provide you with four hours of play if you beat it without dying, on the other hand it could take you a heck of a lot longer if you have other games you'd rather play, you die a lot, you get stuck on a level for a while, or you play it once and then put it on the self for awhile and save it for a rainy day. Whatever happens, unless you hate Star Trek with a passion, this game is a lot of fun if and when you decide to play it, it will be worth your time.
