"One of the best games ever!"

I first played Landstalker way back when,and it was one of the best games I have ever played,from the stunning visuals (For Genesis days) to the great gameplay.Now,it is still one of the best games I have ever played.Now,on with the review,shall we?

Visual

For a Genesis game,these 3d graphics were absolutely amazing.In those days,these were the best you could get.So,why only a 9?Well,in some places,the detail isn't quite as good as compared to the other sections.A minor problem,but a problem nonetheless.

Audio

The music in this game is truly fantastic.It has very catchy tunes (The travelling music comes to mind.Both of them) and it always sets the mood.The travelling music makes it seems like a long journey is ahead,and the music of Massan village gives the sensation of a quiet little town.

The sounds,however,are a different story.Most are good,but the jumping sound can get annoying (not for me,but it got annoying for my friend) but the thing that drops the score is the climbing sound.How I despise it!It sounds nothing like climbing,and hearing it more than once will make your skin crawl!

Gameplay

This games shines in this category.It is wonderful here,the combat is exciting and the difficulty is perfect.for combat,swinging your sword and letting the enemy walk into is enough for the early levels,but afterwards,the enemies will wind around and surround you!Difficulty is another really good area.The game starts off really easy,but then gets progressively harder as the game goes on.

There are only 2 gripes in this section.The control,it's horrible at first(almost impossible using a ROM and keyboard)but,it does even itself out after about 20 mins.The hardest part I found is walking through one of the doors at the beginning.It's just so hard,but a bit of practice in open gets you ready for the indoors.The other one is that jumping can be very difficult,because the game is 3d,but it uses sprites.

Replayability

7/10

With all the games good factors,there isn't much to do once you've beaten it,really.You can collect all the life stock (hearts) and/or find any rings you didn't get. (Unless your like me and get them all first try) However,if you go back to it about a year later,it's back in all it's glory!

Fun Factor

The most important part of any game,this game is fun.You have to play it to find out how fun it is,really.

This game is near perfect.It's impossible to find now,so go find yourself a ROM of this wonderful little gem immediately,you won't disappointed,Guaranteed!
