"All Your Base Are Belong to Pony"
Crystal's Pony Tale is a game I played as a kid, but it was a shortlived experience.
Gameplay: 8
The game is fun for kids to play. If you are interested in ponies and simply enjoy the experience of playing a kid's game (most likely, you are a kid about 8 yr. old when you play this) then you will enjoy this game.
Music: 9
Believe it or not, there are actually some good musical scores for this game. On occasion, you will get yourself into a dangerous situation (yes, you can get hurt in this game) and some danger music will sound. The classical songs 'Sugar Plum Fairy' and 'Flight of the Bumblebee' make appearance in this game.
Sound: 8
Some of the sounds for this game are actually on a decent par, although, some noises can be rather annoying.
Control: 5
Galloping is fun but that's about it. When you come up to the edge of any body of water, Crystal the pony will immediately stop, raise upon her hind legs and neigh in defiance. This is tedious and time-consuming. You must then back up and jump over the water. Speaking of which, jumps are oftentimes difficult to perform.
Graphics: 8
The graphics for the time are not excellent, but thankfully are not poor. Going for this game is the fact that the creators took enough time to make the graphics decent. The graphics are made to copycat the 'My Little Pony' show cartoon. You can customize Crystal's colors to make her different colors if you so wish, which is an interesting little bonus for the kids. The game allows you to customize Crystal's mane, tail, and body.
Fun Factor: 6
This game is strictly for the kiddies.
Battle System: 3
The scenario: You come across the witch. The only fightable foe. ( Enemies such as bats cannot be fought ) When fighting the witch, she swoops down upon her broom. Crystal must gallop up to her, rear up, and KICK HER IN THE FACE! This gets boring after a while... Not even the hard difficulty makes this much more of a challenge.
Replay Value: For the kids - Moderately High
Teenagers - Um, no
Adults - Are you feeling okay... ?
To buy or to rent: Kid - Buy it
Teenager - No
Adult - See 'Replay Value'
Overall: 7
Ultimately, a game for the kids.
Final Word:
Kiddish
