The Revenge of Shinobi

"An overrated piece of junk."

People talked about this game being such a classic. Classic garbage is more like it. I use these type of games to line my bird cage! I've never played any of the sequels, and I most certainly do not want to.For those of you who hated Shinobi, this review is for you. For those of you who loved Shinobi, stay away.

Graphics(8): Pretty good for a Genesis game. backgrounds are detailed and characters are well animated. But graphics aren't what make a good. It's gameplay.

Sound(8):Music in this game is awesome. Classic-ninja music. Good techno beats. However, characters don't really make any sounds. Nothing much can be heard when you attack an enemy.

Control(5): There's few attacks. On the good side, attacks are easy to pull off(special attacks only require a button to perform). On the flip side, the controller responds to loosely, resulting in cheap deaths when trying to jump over a pit.

Gameplay(1): This game is HARD. Even the 1st level is frustrating(it seems like it should be the last level). You'll quickly grow angry because of pits and small life bars.On the 2nd level, as soon as I was about to land from this hard jump over pit,I bounced of an enemy, and died. Now you know why this game is ridiculous. Way too many cheap deaths. Even though enemies die in one hit,the game is still hard, even on easy difficulty. And if I'm not mistaken, aren't ninjas supposed to be skilled in martial arts? There is only one physical attack in this game, and it's a good for nothing punch, used when you run out of shrukeins. And that's another thing. When you run out of shrukeins, you might as well declare yourself dead. I found myself fighting a boss using a punch! Due to all of this, I really don't think the game can be beaten, even with codes!

Replay/Extras(1): If for some unworldly reason you manage to beat the game, there is nothing to gain but monotony by playing it over again. Unless you want to even attempt to beat it on hardest difficulty.

Overall, don't even think of playing this game if you want to live. There aren't many good ninja games(there aren't many ninja games period, which might not be a bad thing after playing this.). I honestly don't know what people see in this game that's exciting. Hopefully, there are many other people who agree with me.
