Welcome to my review of Maximum Carnage. I got this game years ago from my brother, and after seeing the cover, I couldn't stop thinking about playing it. The cover it self is just awesome. It looked awesome. Then I played the game. It IS awesome. A bit hard though, but still awesome. Must buy. MUST MUST BUY!!!! Here's my review

Gameplay- The gameplay is fun. You can play as either Venom or Spiderman. Spiderman is pretty fast, and not SO strong, while Venom is slow and really strong. The game gets a bit repititive, but it's good overall. The difficulty when you're fighting Carnage is insane though. Really. I wish there were some cheats to make it easier. Then the game would be better.

Story - Well, the game doesn't have a LOT of story. Just your basic ''2 guys team up with more guys to take out a legion of guys''. That's the basic story. However, it is pretty entertaining. As you go along, you'll see many classic enemies. I would go into some detail, but then I'd hate to spoil the game. Also, many classic heroes help you, which reallllly rules. Fans of marvel comics WILL love this game. Casual gamers will love it, just because it's fun.

Levels- The levels in this game look pretty good. They are also pretty nice. The classic ones are ''walk around and kill the gambit look alikes'', but when they have a different theme to them, they are pretty awesome. I guess they could have added more variety, but then again, I didn't beat the game so maybe I missed the final levels.

Audio/Video - This is hard to judge, since I am writing this at the end of 2002 and this game came out YEARS ago, so I'll try to be as unbiased as possible. The graphics are pretty nice. The audio is . .allright. Good for genesis I suppose. It COULD be better, the audio that is. The music is not that great, but it's okay I suppose.


Replayability - Well, I've never beaten the game, but I can say that I wish I had. The game is pretty addictive. If you have a genesis, it's a MUST BUY! I'm serious.

All in all, if you still enjoy genesis games, this one is for you. No need to like Spiderman, Venom or marvel at all. If you like beat em ups (Streets of rage for example) this is a game you must get. A must for anybody with a genesis.
