NHLPA Hockey 93

NHLPA 93 was one of the first hockey games released for Sega Genesis. Being a huge hockey fan growing up I picked this game up right away. Many gamers are not into hockey as much as others, NHLPA 93 isn’t for just the fans of hockey. Anyone who enjoys games can enjoy NHLPA 93. You have played the new age EA Sports games before so try some of the old school games, NHLPA 93 by EA is a great old school game that can bring just as much excitement as the new games of today.

Gameplay: 9
NHLPA 93 is one of the best hockey games to get your hands on. It features every team from the NHL in 1993 and features the players you all remember. NHLPA 93 sticks mainly to how hockey is played but also offers a little extra to spice it up and keep you coming back for more. While playing a game and going into an intermission between periods you get a look at the scoreboard from other games around the league. It updates you on the scores and if there is a close game between two other teams you can view a highlight of that game.

Story: --
You can’t really give a story rating to a sports game since the goal is to just lead your team to the championship game.

Graphics: 8.5
Not superb graphics in terms of other Genesis games but NHLPA 93 does a nice enough job for the gamer. Things such as blood after losing a fight and glass shattering keep the graphics rating at an 8.

Sound: 8.5
Goes hand in hand with the graphics, nothing to special but the music is quite catchy and the sounds of the players getting thumped into the boards is a plus.

Replay: 8
No season mode in this game which I feel is a downfall, although the choice of single elimination playoffs and 7 game series can keep you coming back for more. Also the option of multiplayer in exhibition mode helps, it’s always fun to play against friends and experiment with different teams.

OVERALL: 9
Today you can probably find this game for a dollar used at a Flea Market or garage sale.
With every team available for play and the many great features of this game I recommend this game for everyone. So go ahead and pick this game up it will be a cheap purchase and you will have fun playing it.
