"An Excellent Game"
I used to watch this show when I was younger, and when I saw this game at EB, I couldn't resist.
Gameplay: 9/10
The gameplay of this game is awesome. You can control any of the three monsters while the other 2 follow behind. This is cool in itself, but what is really awesome is that each monster has a special move. Oblina will climb up on Krum and Icus and be thrown high so they can reach new areas. Krum will throw his eyes and you can move them so you can see what is up ahead in the level. Icus' move will have him thrown across the screen to go over obstacles and such. It's really a neat concept and although the game is aimed toward a younger audience, it really can get your brain thinking.
Graphics: 10/10
I can't find any flaws in the graphics. The characters move fluidly, and when you combine them with the awesome backgrounds it feels not as if you are watching a cartoon, but playing a cartoon. It's really a neat effect.
Sound: 8/10
The music is good, and inspired from the T.V. show, however it does get slightly annoying after a while. Everything, even the monsters, have their own sound effects as well, but sometimes the sounds just feel out of place. Good sounds nonetheless.
Control: 9/10
The game's controls are very tight and responsive. The A button is the scare button, which will let the monster you are controlling unleash a terrifying scare upon whatever enemies are on the screen. B and C are used to jump, and the D-Pad to move around. However, if you push down and Scare (A button), you can change the monster you wish to control. Up + Scare will have the monster you are controlling perform his or her special move. The only gripe I have is that sometimes you are positioned awkwardly and you have to move into just the right spot to perform the move. Example: You are on a ledge and need to have Oblina thrown high. You have to be on just the right spot of the ledge for the move to be pulled off. It's slightly aggravating, but it doesn't really hinder gameplay that much.
Overall: 9/10
A great, solid platformer. Fans of the series will especially enjoy it, as it brings back good memories. Also, it's only 2 or 3 bucks at EB/ Gamestop.
