NBA Action '94

"The game that started it all!"

Intro- When sega sports introduced this game back in 1993 it was actually the first installment in the 2k series but no one really knows this. NBA 2k went under a different name when it first came out, it was called NBA ACTION for the sega genesis. This is a classic basketball game. and i think its a must have for your genesis sports collection!

Graphics- The graphics are weak. i would give this game a 9 if it would`ve had better graphics but they`re not too bad as you can see from the screenshot.

Sound- This game features Marv Albert in the booth and i like his commentary for the most part. I especially like it when he says... ''He serves up a facial'' haha! The introduction music is fairly well done too. but like most 16-bit sports games, the sound usually falls a little short of great. But atleast the sound is not unbearable to listen too like in some sports games!

Gameplay- This is really where the game shines! the gameplay is more realistic than the nba live games on the genesis. when i wanted to play a fun NBA game i would throw in Live but when i wanted a serious game of baskeball that was still fun i would go with NBA action.

One thing you`ll notice about this game is players without the ball move much better than they do in ANY OTHER genesis basketball game you`ll find! They set screens and come off of picks, They make better cuts towards the basket, fast breaks unfold like fast breaks in real basketball, The layup and dunk animations are very cool, and the post game is very clean. To put it simply, this game is just a lot of fun and very realistic for a 16-bit game.

Extras- Well you do get some legendary players in this game like Bill Walton, Bob Cousy, Connie Hawkins etc..etc.. you get 3 legendary teams and they all consist of the great NBA players from the past. and of course this is a great game for stat junkies. it will track all of your stats throughout a season.

Overall- if you still want to add to your sports collection for the genny, don`t wait another moment this is THE GAME to get. or if you never played this game, play it, it is one of the best 16-bit baskeball games you`re going to find.
