Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Review by NEPatriots12
"And we'll have fun, fun, fun until the Daddy takes the cartridge away"
This game is not only fun, but hilarious! You always find a new and improved way to die, and I laugh in this game's general direction. Not in jest, but in sheer hilarity. As I sit here writing this review, I think back to the days when this game was popular. This game deserves some respect, as it not only was a Sega Genesis launch title, but a sequel to a hard and classic game. Let's take a look at this game.
Story: It's a classic ''Save-a-medieval-princess-while-slaying-demons'' type of story line. No matter how many times they invert, twist and tear apart this type of story from the sheer usage of it, IT WORKS my fellow gamers. You are King Arthur of the Round Table, and demons stole your girl. Life goes on without your maiden. Or does it? You decide to go out an rescue your girl while taking revenge on those same demons while you're at it.
Graphics: Surprisingly good for an early Genesis game. The backgrounds are very detailed, and the enemies and bosses are pretty cool-looking too. These graphics are good. For me, they were unparalleled until Sonic the Hedgehog came out.
Sounds/Music: Funny as heck! The first level music is hilariously cheesy. The other levels' musics pale in comparison. The sounds are cool too. However, the collision sounds could've been less annoying and the music got steadily worse after the first level. And when you die as much as you do in this game, the music will get annoying unless it's the first level.
Difficulty: Off the charts! This game is so hard, you'll want to turn it into a projectile that you throw at the certain guy who cuts you off on the highway. This will happen if you don't have the patience to play this game. I've seen countless people bash Ghouls 'N' Ghosts because it was such a hard game. This game is not for the faint of heart. You WILL be tested to the limits of your patience. If you don't have the patience, you will NOT like this game.
Gameplay: As simple as can be! You use a button to jump, another to throw. This game is fun as can be, you just need to make it fun. BUT, there is on HUGE flaw in this game and that is the retarded jumping system. It works like this: once you jump, you're committed. No, you can't change directions in mid-air like in other games. Now before you say, ''Hey! don't you like a challenge?'' consider this: IS THIS REALLY WORTH IT? I mean, come on. Games that are harder that this allow you to change directions while jumping. This is the only flaw in the gameplay, however.
Sum it Up!
Story: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
Difficulty: 10/10
Sounds/Music: 10/10

Fun Factor: Very fun

The Last Word: If you can find this game, buy it. It can be fun, you just have to make it fun.
