Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage
Review by Die Hard Guy
"It's web slingin' mayhem..."
STORY: Staying true to the comic book, Maximum Carnage follows the plot of the series very closely. Starting in the streets of New York City as Spiderman, just as the comics. It also includes many scenes after each level directly from the comic book, ading to the plot and building up the action.
(10/10)
CONTROL: After getting used to the controls, (which is extremely easy) the game starts moving along quickly. You can punch/kick, jump, run, climb walls, shoot web, use special bonuses, etc.
(9/10)
GRAPHICS/SOUND: The old web slinger looks great on the Genesis and sounds just as good. Some of the comic sequences are a little choppy, but then again, its Genesis. A major flaw I find is having the enemie's names appear when you fight them, its kind of annoying killing the same guy over and over again. The sounds and music match the action great, although there are some times (like when you kill a baddy) that the sounds get a little annoying, but overall, they are really good.
(8/10)
FUN-FACTOR: The action is pretty much non stop, which is cool, and the game is a classic beat-em-up. The level of difficulty may be a little too hard though, and not being able to save is a minus, but the action will keep you coming back for more and thats all that really matters, right?
(9/10)
BOTTOM LINE: A classic game for the Genesis, even if you're not a big fan of the comics, you can pick it up for about $5 or less, so its worth it.
