"From a X-fan's point of view"

I played this game at the height of my x-fandom, and it became my favourite of the genesis.
The characters you have playable are quite prime x-men. Wolverine being the major marketing juggernaut, Cyclops the embodiment of a team leader, Gambit the mysterious thief who is chock full of stylish moves and nightcrawler with the coolest ability of teleportation. I liked wolvie for his ability to heal in the game, cyke for his optic blast targeting, gambit for his homing card missiles and nightcrawler the best for his teleportation. That was far out cheating.. imagine teleporting through walls thus skipping the need for looking for keys to doors! Its a surefire way to fast forward your game with the dark blue devil under your control.

You get to call upon your other teammates Storm, Rogue, ArchAngel and Iceman to aid you in defeating enemies or overcoming obstacles. They are like special hotlines for help, only usable once per stage. Along the way you might pick up replenishment cubes that allow you to use them for a second time.

The story is such: Magneto is up to no good, and hes done something to the X-men's Danger room (Yes! the one which you begin your game trapped in!), making you undergo multiple simulations to the Savage Lage, Shiar Empirum, Excalibur Castle on muir isle, Ahab's future world and Mojo's crunch (these are the levels of the game) with the last stage being a real place which is Mag's moon base.

The stages are fun to go through, once you get the hang of using the x-men's powers and knowing where the power ups are. The stage is kept tight-knit and at no point of time do you feel it gets repetitive. There are puzzles for every stage as you would have read about in other reviews so i shan't go into them and spoil them for you. I would just like to say some puzzles are definitely out of the box and that made the game a whole lot cooler...
The game music added some moods to the stages but you could have done without it i felt.

All in all, i ended replaying this baby again and again because it made mutant powers look good. I would recommend you get this game because there aren't much of its kind around on the genesis!
So from a fan's point of view, this game deserves a 9/10 =)
