Aero The Acro-Bat

Aero the Acro-Bat was one of the first games that I was introduced to that featured gameplay like no other. This is a type of game were you are a bat that works in the circus and you have to stop the baddies. This is a game were you have to get through all the levels in the given amount of time limit. Lets get the story down straight so you can start playing. The whole story is about you getting back your girlfriend after she has been captured. This is a really hard game that isn't for the younger folks. Now to get started grab a bag of popcorn and a drink and let me tell you about this game.

Graphics 7/10
The graphics are the basic graphics for the genesis. They are the 2-D graphics that really don't compare to anything that is real good. Since the graphics are the same in almost every game for the genesis council then I really don't see giving this part of the game that high of a score. Sure there are some good parts here like the environments and the backgrounds. These to parts of the levels are the best part of the graphics. Everything is so bright and colorful. It really gives you the idea that you are at a circus watching this little bat fly around killing the baddies.

Sound 5/10
They weren't anything that was worth saying that stood out. I personally got tired of them fairly quick. So there isn't much to be said here other than you might get tired of hearing them rather quickly.

Gameplay 7/10
You basically have to just walk around to collect the balls. This is an action type of game. There are about 15 HUGE levels for the time when the genesis was still making games. The jumping part of the game is so difficult that it makes the game almost no fun at all for some parts of the game.

Controls 7/10
The controls are great. As soon as you push the button for him to move he does. The only problem that I have here is that the jumping is kind of hard as mentioned from above.

Replayability 6/10
Some of the levels are so hard that you might not want to pick it up again after you beat it. This is a game for only the really hardcore gamers because you will definitely be getting really angry at some points in the game because. So unless you are a hardcore gamer then I doubt this game will have much replayability for you.

Rent or Buy?
Only if you're a hard core gamer then you should buy this if not then I say rent it first...that is if you can still find it.
