Shane Warne Cricket

Review by jnr wonderful

"As exciting as the real game"

Yes. I have given this game a 9/10. As a game it is flawless. But it will get boring because after a while, cricket does get boring. But this isn't really the games fault, so points can't be taken. Now for the review.

Graphics - Not bad for a PlayStation game. Hang on, what? This is Megadrive? You can't be serious. You are? Well ok then.

What does that say about it? Player sprites are great. Animations are flawless. Pitch is great. Even the nets are top-notch. This game has great visuals. Almost ahead of its time. Somewhat like a Donkey Kong game I played on SNES. It looked too good to be N64. This area gets a 10 for flawless graphics.

Audio - Duh Duh Duh Dudu Duh Duhduh....

Gotta love that funky theme song. Catchy and not annoying. I'd download the midi. The little noise when you click something on the menu is cool. All the gameplay noises are there. The crowd reacts to different things in different countries. The music is different for different countries. England has that traditional English stuff, West Indies has steel drums and Australia has 'Waltzing Matilda'. Perfect.

Gameplay - Howzat! Out. Quack Quack

Gameplay here is fine. Controls are great. Although a little unresponsive that might be my timing. But it just gets boring when your batting. Chasing a total is different though. Multiplayer combats this but otherwise it gets boring. Like the actual game of cricket. Bowling is fun though. And fielding isn't too bad.

Realism & Presentation - Oh no, the umpires have called off the days play.

This is great. You get called off for rain. It has a simulation clock. And overall I get the feeling that I'm watching TV. Music for different countries adds to presentation, the menu system is neat and tidy. Good job.

Extras - Cut! Cut! You're cut. What are you doing here, I already cut you.

You can edit the teams! Don't like someone? Replace them. Want your friends in the game? Make them a team. Don't like the international competition? Play as the Aussie state teams. Not good enough? Go practise in the nets. Great!

Overall - Mum, can I buy that?

Yes. Yes you should. It'll be fun. And for you Americans... get it, you'll find a new sport.
