Beavis and Butt-head

Review by Y2JkicksRVD

"A perfect blend of...stuff."

This game is very good, even great. The reason it is so good, is because it is a melting pot of different types of games. It is a “Beat ‘em up” like Golden Axe, it is a Puzzle game, because it requires the use of your brain, and lastly, it has elements of an RPG. Unlike it's SNES twin, which is a straight beat ‘em up, and requires nothing more than button mashing. If you are unsure on what type of game you want to pick up next, try this one. With its cornucopia of game types, it is sure to please.

Graphics--10/10
This game features some of the best graphics you will ever see on the Sega Genesis. The graphics in this game rival even the television show. Beavis and Butt-Head are even wearing their trademark band shirts. It is also easy to notice that all of the places from the T.V. show are here, and look strikingly similar. Highland High School, Anderson's house, and even the rat infested Burger Joint is here. This game has some of the best possible graphics for the time, and easily earns a 10 out of 10.

Sound/Music--10/10
The game also has the Music and Sound down perfectly. Mike Judge does all the voice acting, and the music is also directly from the show. Beavis and Butt-Head always have something to say, and that is reflected here, with their hilarious comments, which happen periodically throughout the game. When idled, they bust out into their wicked dance moves. With the majority of the Music and Sound coming right from the show, there is no possible way that it can receive less than a perfect score, 10 out of 10.

Controls--10/10
The controls are simple, yet they are perfect. There is three commands. Run, Jump, Attack. So simple, yet so satisfactory. It is all that is needed. For such a complex game, to have such simple controls is a Godsend. If you stumble upon the game, and it is cartridge only, fear not. You can figure the controls out in mere seconds. There is no need for a booklet, ha, in fact, I spit in the face of any booklet. Controls are very simple, yet perfect, so they are awarded a 10 out of 10.

Gameplay--10/10
This is what really makes this game special. As I said above, this game has so many elements in it. Firstly, this game is a classic side-scrolling beat em up, much like Golden Axe. You must walk through the surroundings, and defeat enemies by burping, farting, spitting, and doing whatever else Beavis and Butt-Head do. Secondly, this game is a puzzle game. You must get certain items, and use them at certain times. It requires great thinking skills and logic to play this game. Lastly, it is an RPG. Not on the same level of the greats like EarthBound, Super Mario RPG, or Final Fantasy. But in its own unique way. As you progress, you are given stronger and stronger items. You then must decide who gets to use them. With that said, I'm not even done. What makes this game so damn good, is it is multi-player. I love Co-op games, and this is probably my all time favorite. One player is Beavis, the other Butt-Head. This game has so much stuff, and is fun for almost anyone. With so much, Gameplay could be awarded nothing less than a 10.

Replayability--10/10
This game deserves more than a 10 out of 10 for replay ability. It honestly deserves Infinity/10. Playing through one time will not suite anyone. You must continue playing. There are also two endings, so one will want to see both. Even if you have beaten it, both ways, you will still find yourself crawling back and playing this game. The fact that it is two player co-op also helps greatly, because you will always have someone playing with you. It is an eternally retold story. 10 out of 10.

If you noticed, every category got a perfect score. 10 out of 10. I am not exaggerating this, either. This game is good in so many ways, I cannot express it. I can only tell you this, if you own a Genesis, and you still play it, you must buy this game. You must! I will leave it at that.
