Road Rash II
Review by MikeHaggar
""My bike's better then yours". A classic."
Road Rash II is a very competant racer, even 8 years after it's initial release. It mixes skill with brutality and you should have a very fun time playing this game. I really like this game and have played all of the Road Rash's. I give a full recomendation to purchase this game.
Graphics (6/10) The graphics in Road Rash II are not ugly , but are far from jaw dropping. The racers and bikes are very well done, but the backgrounds and tracks don't look too spectacular. But you will be hard pressed to notice when you are fighting off the last racer preventing you from 1st Place, 20 seconds from the finish line.
Sound (7/10) Sound effects are basic and add nothing spectacular to the game, although the engine noises are quite nice. I have to give the soundtrack to this game a 9 though. I've hummed the tunes to this song more then once. The lack of a real rock band soundtrack ( a Road Rash mainstay since the 3DO version) is not a big turn off to me, but may be for some.
Gameplay (10/10) Once you play you find Road Rash is a great game, it has excellent gameplay. It has a great opportunity to fight, the racing is unparalleled, and once you begin to master it you will have no problems.
Lasting appeal- (6/10) 2- player is fun enough, but the 1 player tournament mode kept me glued to the game for weeks on end. I didn't quit until I had passed every level and gotten every bike. Once I did that, I kind of passed up.
Rank in the Road Rash Franchise- Better then Part 1, due to improvements in every aspect, better the the Playstation versions (RR 3-D and RR: Jail Break) due to the better emphasis on white knuckle action. The only version that is better then this in all aspects is Road Rash III for 3DO and it's port to the Playstation.
