Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure
Review by TheProdigy
"One of the strangest, nastiest game you'll ever play!"
Introduction to: Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure
Boogerman is a game about a bizarre, super-hero-like man who uses amazing weapons (mainly, boogers, farts, atomic burps, etc.) to destroy the evil enemies (consisting mostly of creepy little green monsters). It involves strategic toilet paper flinging and of course, toilet portals. It is rated MA-13 and supports 1 player. It was released by Interplay in 1994.
Graphics
The graphics in this game are pretty good. It's a 2D game, but all enemies and levels look pretty sharp. They aren't anything amazing or ground-breaking but the graphics are solid.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Boogerman is incredibly simple and easy to get hooked to. It's your basic platformer, you just walk along, flick boogers or use other item and attacks, just over bad stuff. There's obviously some nice twists and things to make the game unique.
The basic story is Booger Man is trying to save the world from this insane scientist named Professor Stinkbaum. Stinkbaum is trying to move the world's trash to a different universe, and Boogerman hates this idea, since he lives in the stuff. He's out to stop the scientist and you, being the gamer, must help. Simple enough.
The controls are simple as can be, just walk around with your D-Pad and use your A, B, and C buttons for, well, everything else. As for length, the game will keep you occupied for quite a while, with its 41 levels stretched through 5 worlds. Plus, there's tons of secrets to explore, so it will keep you playing again to find them all.
Sound
Well, the games all about nasty noises and bodily functions, so the game is loaded with these kinds of sounds. The sound track is simple but addictive, good for the game. Voice acting is okay too.
Buy or Ignore?
If you are a Genesis gamer (not too many of 'em left), then you should have this game. Although it can get a bit nasty and/or childish sometimes, it is still a pretty good platformer that's fun and addictive to play.
