Dig Dug
Review by Ratking
"This game is vintage. Definitely a classic for a classic system."
Digdug is a game where you must dig holes and avoid various creatures to reach your final destination. This is not as easy as it sounds, but it gives you fun-filled hours on the Intellivision system. See the Intellivision was a system made in 1982, and for the time period was pretty advanced. It however received no-respect and was overlooked. This is one of those games that was over-looked, and in my mind was an instant classic.
GRAPHICS (5/10): The graphics were good for it's time period, but they were also choppy. It will not memorize you, but it will not really disappoint you either. The digdug kinda reminds me of a guy with a shovel, but you really cannot tell, and all the levels resemble one another in backgrounds.
SOUND (8/10): It had catchy music, which you will find yourself humming throughout the day. The sound effects are non-existant in the game, except when you were digging a whole. Trust me on this, there are Nintendo 64 games with worse sound then this.
GAMEPLAY (8/10): The controls are smooth, with only a little delayed reaction. In the end the digdug would do as you ordered, and that is what matters. The game itself you will find yourself playing for hours on end, with a smile on your face.
REPLAYABILITY (9/10): As I said before this one game you could play all day, and not be disapointed. There are many levels and they much differ in difficulty and it is fun to restart when you are defeated. I mean, don't play it on a school night, or you would never get your homework done. That has happened numerious times that I've been up at 4AM playing Digdug.
CHALLENGE (5/10): The game was not to hard, but it was not easy either. It could have been a little tougher, but you will not be beating it the first time you pick it up. Each levels differs in difficulty and near the end you will find yourself pulling your hair in anguish, but still being entertained.
OVERALL (7/10): The graphics in this game have much to be desired, but the sound makes up for it. This game is one of the best games for the Intellivision system, almost edging out good ol' Burger Time. The intellivision was a forgotten system, but if you could find the system with digdug for a cheap price on EBAY, you cannot go wrong buying it.
