| 2. Introduction |
--------------------------\____________________/--------------------------
My experience with Spyro games are not very extensive if compared it with
Pokemon, but I have been playing many Spyro games (Spyro Adventures, Spyro
- Year of the Dragon, Spyro The Dragon and Spyro Season of Flames). Spyro
2 - Ripto's Rage was the second Spyro game I played because the first one
was Spyro Adventures (GBA). My favorite Spyro game from all those was
Spyro 2 - Ripto's Rage (Spyro Adventures also) and that's why I chose it
to make a walkthrough. Once I could get all the items within the game
(gems and orbs), I just need to know whether there are secrets or not
because my experience has shown to me that I'm ready to write a guide for
the game. I'd like very much to see Spyro in the next Super Smash Bros
game, however I believe that its inclusion will be long, though there are
many of his games out. Spyro 2 - Ripto's Rage is the history sequence of
Spyro Year of the Dragon, there are courses, and except the diamonds I
listed how to get every important item, which are the Orbs.
I listed the levels in the "Walkthrough" section yn the same order they
are mentioned in the Guidebook (press START button and select Guidebook,
you can see the worlds and the levels inside them and all the items you
got in it). My walkthrough though is in step by step order, you should
take a look at the certain level you want to check out how to get a Orb,
because the hard and the cooler of getting in the levels are the Orbs once
gems are found a lot and the talismans are too easy of being found. My
walkthrough is very didactic, but I didn't make it only for people that
never played Spyro although someone that fits in this feature will be okay
on using it because this game of is easy.

--------------------------\____________________/--------------------------
This is an important section, read it.
=========================
<------Characters------->
=========================
Spyro: It's the main character of the game. Spyro is a purple dragon,
apparently a teen dragon. He has big horns, two golden wings and some
golden scales as well. Although he's young Spyro already has claws and
he's very wild. Spyro also knows to spit flames. In some games Spyro had
the even the ability to spits ice and also to generate thunder clouds.
Here you have only the fire as main weapon, and also the traditional dash
attack. Spyro is curious and a good character, he's always solving the
problems in Dragon Shores.
Sparky: This dragonfly is always near Spyro. Its color means how much is
Spyro's health, the worse is its color, worse Spyro's health is. Sparx
also gives you trick of some places. It works like what the fairy Navi was
for Link in The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time. Sparky eats the
butterflies that raise your health, and therefore, making it healthier and
apparently cute.
Professor: It's a mole (that's what it seems for me). Professor is always
creating new things. He has a lab, although you won't see it in this game.
Professor uses a white jacket and glasses. The main role of Professor is
creating machines and else stuff, which most of the times needs a special
object to work and is on this that Spyro needs to look for. In this game
you have to collect the Orbs for Professor. His name? He has been always
named only as Professor.
Ripto: It's the villain of the game. Ripto is a very sweet dragon,
although small he's evil. Ripto is red, uses a white jacket and has as
main weapon a magic stick which he uses to do the most terrible things. He
wants to domain the Dragon Shores and looks for anything valuable like
Professor's inventions. Ripto also is different from the other dragons, he
doesn't spits flame (at least I never saw that in any game) and has only
one horn. Should be due that he's so angry?
Moneybags: This suit-dressed dog has a high money vision about the things.
Everytime you find him, have in mind that he'll make you an offer for an
ammount of gems. This offer may be opening a world, a bridge, even
teaching you a new move. Although he's greedy and covers high (yes, covers
high so because getting gems is tough), he'll always help you, so you have
just to pay.
=========================
<--------Controls------->
=========================
See below what each button does.
D-Pad - Move Spyro
X - Jump
[] - Run
/\ - Spyro's head view, starts a talk
O - Spits flame, spits swallowed item
Select - Check status
L1, R1 - Turns the screen to right
L2, R2 - Turns the screen to left
=========================
<--------Movement------->
=========================
See below Spyro's movements and how to execute them because some of them
are gained when you pay a certain amount of gems to Moneybags.
-Sliding-
Place: Nowhere
Sliding is natural movement that Spyro has and it's one of the most
important moves because without it you have no access to several places.
When you jump with X button, press X button again while in air and Spyro
opens out its wings, making it to slide forth. While he's sliding he goes
down slowly, what makes possible he reach a distant area. You can even
gain a bit of height before landing by pressing /\ button, the hover,
which is necessary to reach certain surfaces of the game.
-Spitting-
Local: Nowhere
When you make the front of Spyro touches certain objects (generally
they're round), Spyro will put it in mouth. This object is used to be spit.
This spit attack has some utilities, the first one is its range and the
second one is that it can kill certain enemies that normally your flame
and dash attack wouldn't hit.
-Dive-
Local: Summer Forest
Swimming was essential to make this game cool, maybe that's why Spyro 2 -
Ripto's Rage is my favorite Spyro game. Now Spyro can touch the water
without getting hurt and the best is that it can even dive and though as
dragon your time underwater is infinite. Once you jumped in water to dive
you need to press []. This will make you go down the water, to swim in
high speed hold [], and to swim in low speed press X. Your normal flame
attack does not work while Spyro is underwater.
-Climbing-
Local: Autumn Plains
This move isn't so interesting as swim, but it's still so making the game
cooler. Climbing is a movement that allows Spyro to grab ladders and other
climbing surfaces. It's pretty odd how a dragon, like Spyro, can grab
ladders, but so it's a cool thing. To climb a ladder jump on it, Spyro
grabs it automatically, then use D-Pad to climb up or down and get off
with X button.
-Headbash-
Local: Winter Tundra
This movement is cool, however as it appears later in the game it's few
used. The headbash is executed when you press /\ while Spyro is in air, he
falls down straight in the area under it with the horn. This movement can
kill many enemies, but it's main utility is breaking crates and other
things extremlly hard. If you press /\ when Spyro is sliding he'll hover
instead of using the headbash, therefore when you want to use the headbash
do the simple jump.
=========================
<---------Items--------->
=========================
Gems: I won't list the value of each gem, I just say its value depends on
its color. Gems are used to you pay the offers from Moneybags principally.
I WILL NOT list how to get the gems because it's boring and that would
make this walkthrough huge. Gems are gotten only by two ways: found on
field or from buckets/vases. Check out every place and corners that you go,
you possibly will find the gem you missed.
Orbs: Orbs in this game are the items you get in the levels and out them.
It's a green shining sphere. You won't be covered of the Orb after passing
through a level, but in any moment there'll be a toll before a door that
will be open only if you have enough Orbs. Orbs are found easily
throughout the game, but most of the times they're from missions or mini-
games you accomplish.
=========================
<-------Enemies---------> nmgos
=========================
Any character in the game that causes a damage on you is an enemy. That's
why you have attack moves, the dash and the flame, which you use to defend
yourself. The enemies can be divided into two groups, the little animals
and the bad enemies.
The little animals, or butterfly animals, are sheeps, frogs and any other
little animal which when killed releases out a butterfly. The butterfly
will be eaten by Sparky, which will recover Spyro's health. There may even
be a blue big butterfly, which gives you an extra life. These enemies are
not a problem once they do not hurt you, and dash and flame attack can
defeat them.
The bad dudes, or the enemies, are dangerous because they'll attack you if
you don't attack them first. They may be big or little size if compareted
to you, but that's just a detail, most of the enemies in Spyro 2 are
easily defeat by just a move, however it's not any move. Generally the big
enemies are defeat by the flame attack while the little ones are defeated
by the dash attack. It's very rare the enemies that can be defeated by
both kind of moves.
Upon defeating a bad dude, the enemy, you can see that a white light will
get out. This white light allows you to use the special powerup of the
level. Although the enemy appears again latter it'll give you the white
light anymore. The white light, however, must be gotten everytime you
enter in a level.
=========================
<-------Powerups--------> pdres
=========================
Powerups give to Spyro a special ability temporally in a level. The
powerups will last as long as the symbol in the left corner of the screen.
The powerup will be very useful according something near it. It's gotten
between two pyramid poles. It's on if you killed the minimum number of
enemies in that level. You have to kill such enemies everytime you enter
in the level. In Spyro 2 we have the following type of powerups:
-Flight- The flight is an excellent powerful and most of the times its
function is grating for you access to areas or targets that you normally
or hardly would reach. When Spyro is flying you use the D-Pad to control
him while in air and you can also use the flame attack. Spyro will dive
down if you press the dash button. If you touch the ground while this
power has time on simply slide to get back up flying again.
-Fireball- Perhaps the best of them. Instead of using the flame attack
Spyro will solely spit a fireball, which is very stronger and can defeat
any evil. The fireball is so powerful that even underwater it can be used,
it will not be a fire ball so, but something like a white shiny star. You
can even aim the fireball while you're with this powerful, hold the button
/\ and the circle means where the fireball will hit. That's a line shot
what means that even a distant target will be hit by it.
-Superdash- The only "infinite" powerup, however it'll last as long as you
hold down [] button. The superdash powerup makes Spyro become extremlly
faster, faster that many obstacles will be destroyed only when he's
running on this speed. So, that's a update of the common dash, to keep the
superdash just keep the [] button held down. You can even jump while on
superdash, but look out to don't lose the pulse because this will make
Spyro return to its normal speed. Facing a solid surface that isn't
breakable will cancel your superdash, so you'll need to get this powerup
again.
-Spring Jump- The spring jump allows you a very high jump. Don't use only
the jump, try to take advantage of its height and slide for an interesting
place. The spring is very useful principally to shortcut ways although the
flight powerup is a lot better.
-Shield- The shield lasts a set ammount of time. While Spyro is under this
shield his body is red-colored and he has protection from hurting surfaces
and enemies. In a general view this is the less powerup used in the whole
game, but very useful in the areas it is located.
-Ice- It's like the fireball, however Spyro will spits an iceball. The
different is the color and also the effect, this power will freeze the
enemy making it become an ice cube, allowing you so to hop on it to reach
a higher area. Some enemies, however, are defeated by this powerup instead
of being frozen. This powerup is found only in Cloud Temples.
**NOTA**: There is the combination of the flight powerup with the fireball
powerup, which happens in Metropolis and in Ripto's Rage only.
=========================
<---------Menus---------> sunem
=========================
The game doesn't offer many menus. The first menu you encounter up is the
one that you set up the language. We have English, French, German, Spanish
and Italian. Unfortunately, no Portuguese... :(
Once the language was set up the game will read the Memory Card and if
there was inserted one you'll be able to create a new game or load one
that you had saved. There's no reason to play Spyro 2 without a Memory
Card because that's the only way to save your progress.
While in the game press START to have access to Guidebook, where you find
the Continue, Guidebook, Save Game, Options and Sound. In Continue you
exit of this menu, in Guide Book you can see how many items you got in a
level, in Save Game you save the game, in Options you alter the screen and
in Sound you adjust the sound.
When in a level press START and in the right side of the Guidebook you can
see how many lives Spyro has, the total amount of gems, Orbs and how many
enemies were already killed (the white light).
=========================
<--Buckets and Vases----> ctsvs
=========================
Those things occupy space in the field and inside they have gems. To get
those gems you need to destroy this object. Buckets are easily destroyed
by fire and by the horn while the vases are resistant to fire, therefore
only the dash can break them. The amount of gems inside a bucket/vase
generally aren't the same.
Besides the buckets and vases we have other kind of boxes which hide gems
too. They don't have a defined appearance, they're metallic-colored like.
They can be destroyed by the fireball power or by a rocket which you just
need to put on fire with your flame attack. There are also some boxes
which have a target on its top, just use the headbash to break it.

| 4. Walkthrought |
--------------------------\____________________/--------------------------
You start straight in the first level, Glimmer, an area inside the Summer
Forest world. Summer Forest has many portals, each one will take you to a
different level. Below is the topic about Summer Forest and all the
portals found in it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Summer Forest~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~smfrt
Notes:
-Moneybags will cover 500 gems to teach you how to dive.
-The lake near Moneybags take you to a castle where are some doors which
are open by red switches, press them by using the Spyro's dash attack move.
-Moneybags will open up the portal of Aquaria Towers for 400 gems.
Orbs:
#1. Look for Hunter (it's a leopard). Talk him and you'll hear how to
execute the jump, the slide and hover moves. By reaching the final
#2. When you know the dive move go to the first area of Summer Forest,
outside Glimmer level, there is a lake, dive in and get across the
underwater cave, hop on the surface and go up the stairs, you'll find an
#3. Near the level that goes to Ocean Speedway there is a switch. Let the
door closed and use the window to slide to the other window aside, where
you can see an Orb in a round room. If the switch were pressed, a door
will close this room.
#4. Although the game suggests that this is the Orb #3, it'll be the last
one acquire due the climbing move, which you'll learn only after Summer
Forest. Inside the castle, near the portal for Sunny Beach, there is a
ladder, go up it and you'll find the Orb.
o----------------------o
| GLIMMER | glmmr
o----------------------o
Glimer has as center a cave and some interesting areas outside this cave.
The Gemcutters are creatures rat-like, they use an yellow helmet with a
lamp and need Spyro to take the lizards out of their cave because they're
disturbing the work of the Gemcutters.
Notes:
-Moneybags covers 100 gems to open the bridge for you.
-Near the final portal there is a window that takes you to a new area.
-By killing 10 enemies you can use the flying powerup.
Orbs:
#1. In the open area near the final portal use the flying powerup and
flame all the lamps, you'll gain a Orb from the Gemcutter.
#2. There is a cave in the new area near the final portal, inside it is a
Gemcutter. Talk him and hit all the lizards with the rock he gives you.
#3. When you had learned how to climb, come back because only with this
move you can go up the ladder that takes you to the flying powerup, then
fly and flame all the lamps inside the cave to gain a Orb.
o----------------------o
| IDOL SPRING | dlspg
o----------------------o
The Foremen have created accidentally wood monsters that are attacking.
These monsters are scattered around the temple. Defeat them to the Foremen
open the doors for you, so you can reach the final.
Notes:
-After the final portal you see clearly a stairs, it allows you to go to
other area of Idol Springs.
-By killing 10 enemies you can use the superdash powerup.
Orbs:
#1. In the lake there is a cave underwater, it takes you to Foreman Bud,
he has 3 mini-games to you win. The first one you have to make all the
squares become yellow, you change their color by jumping on their top. The
second mini-game, which occurs in the lake you have to throw the right
fishes onto the mounth of the statue (use the flame attack for that). The
third minigame has some rocks with draws, jump in the correct order
basically and Foreman Bud gives you the Orb.
#2. There is an area with the superdash powerup. Use it to break all the
pilars and make all the Hulagirls get together to the dance be executed.
They'll give you an Orb for that. You have to destroy all the pilars
within a certain time, or they'll jump back.
o----------------------o
| COLLOSSUS | clsss
o----------------------o
There is a monster here which was locked by the brothers, that monster is
a yeti. Due its ferocity the brothes has given many goats to it keep calm.
Talk with them and they'll give you through the doors. Your objective is
get ride of the monster, whom has been very dangerous.
Notes:
-When you enter in the room to fight with such monster, a rock will fall
on it, so don't worry because you won't have to fight against it.
-In a window of the room where the yeti was there is a way that takes you
to a rockey field.
-By killing 11 enemies you can use the spring powerup.
Orbs:
#1. In the rockey field look for Brother Kipp and talk him. Make 5 goals
in 2 minuts. Swallow the disk by touching Spyro's frontal on it and spit
it by using the same button that spits flame attack.
#2. Talk again with Brother Kipp, the rockey game is now against a player,
the first one to score 5 goals win. Win to gain another Orb.
#3. The spring jump allows you to reach a room where Professor is. It
seems that some evil spirits has possessed the golden statues that you
found along the level. Your objective is scatter those evil spirits, for
that just use the flame attack in the possessed statue.
o----------------------o
| HURRICOS | hrrcs
o----------------------o
The Electrolls are getting apart lately due the doors created. Get the
diode and put it on the turn the shield doors off, so you can reach the
final.
Notes:
-Diodes are found on ground. There is one diode per each door.
-By killing 18 enemies you can use the superdash powerup.
-Certain objects are broken only with the superdash powerup. Behind such
object should be a switch or a new way.
-There are switches behind some superdash-breakable objects. Those
switches will turn the big helices off.
Orbs:
#1. Put the light stones in the machines and flame the monsters when they
get too near. Electroll Amper will give you an Orb for that. This place
can be found from the area where the superdash powerup is located.
#2. While you slide to the factory you'll find an Electroll that will give
you an Orb. You can go to the place of this Electroll only if you lowered
the speed of the helices as well as you had open the way to go onto them.
#3. By sliding toward the factory turn the switch off over there, the
Electroll outside will give you an Orb.
o----------------------o
| SUNNY BEACH | snbch
o----------------------o
This level doesn't seem too much with a beach although that's its name.
It's the lair of many turtles. Your initial objective is opening the doors
to the turtles reach their final point, where you find the final portal.
Notes:
-Certain switches on floor will keep the door open as long as something
stands still on it. Flame the stupid turtle nearby and it'll move to the
switch.
-By killing 11 enemies you can use the fireball powerup.
Orbs:
#1. Advisor Grommit will give you an Orb if you destroy all the crates.
Those crates can be destroyed only by the fireball.
#2. You have to get back to get this Orb once you need the climb move. By
going up the ladder near the final of the level you find Master Chef. He
wants to cook some turtles and what you have to do is throwing them on
water, for that use the flame or dash attack (the dash throws them longer).
Until the final of the round don't let any turtle enter in the pan located
in the middle of the area, throw them to the water. The mini-game starts
right in the moment you jump onto the area of the pan.
#3. By wining the mini-game to gain the Orb #2 Master Chef will propor you
another, however this one is harder, but the rules still the same.
o----------------------o
| AQUARIA TOWERS | qrtwr
o----------------------o
The sea horses has gotten no water to swim because the strange guys with
electrick sticks have drained all their water. Turn all the switches
they're guarding on to the water turn to Aquaria Towers. Along the water
is rising you'll need to swim, and this is a level where swim is essential.
Notes:
-Underwater the enemies can be killed by the dash or by the fireball
powerup.
-You can use the fireball powerup if you killed 14 enemies.
-Moneybags will let you take a ride in his metal shard by 100 gems, so you
can get across the cave.
-The metal sharks can be destroyed by the fireball powerup.
-In the first area you find the sea horse that open the final portal (this
area has also the fireball powerup).
-In the first area (where is the fireball powerup) there is a path in the
roof that takes you to an open area. Without access to this area you can't
get any of the Orbs.
Orbs:
#1. In the open area you find King Flippy. Talk him, he'll ask you to
rescue his sons, each one is arrested in a tower. There are 6 towers on
total. the door of the first tower will explode, following by going from a
tower to other in the order of their number, reach its top and when you
had gotten all his sons you'll gain the Orb.
#2. Talk with Hunter in the open area. He'll propose you to tame its ray.
By monting on its back guide it through ALL the bubbles rings until the
final to gain an Orb.
#3. You can get this Orb only if you got the previous one. Once the ray
was tamed, Hunger wants make it trained for a race. Guide it again through
another course, harder, and gain another Orb.
o----------------------o
| OCEAN SPEEDWAY | cnswy
o----------------------o
Upon you enter in Ocean Speedway you'll see some rings in the front, your
objective is passing through all them, passing through also all the bows,
destroy all the boats (with flame) and all the motocycles. Notice that
there is a time for that. However making all this sice the start within
the time won't make you win this level.
In the crowd there is Queen Finny. Talk her upon you enter in Ocean
Speedway, after start again the course and just complete it before the
time runs over, it doesn't matter how much seconds remains. When you had
won talk her again, she'll propose a race against the champion, which will
be Hunter.
To win the champion you have to fly through the ring he has passed through
as well. Be quick once the ring that champion has passed through will just
shrink, and in case you don't pass through any ring you'll lose and have
to start again. By winning Hunter you gain an Orb.
o----------------------o
| CRUSH'S DUNGEON | crdng
o----------------------o
Price: 6 talismans
Crush is your boss for now in this dungeon and by winning it you gain
acess to Autumn Plains. Crush attacks basically on the following way: he
stands on a blue circle that is in the field, turn a shield on and
launches out an electric wave, this wave hurts. After some waves he'll go
to another circle, it's in this moment that you have to flame it. Then
he'll beat on floor, what will make some rocks fall off the roof. These
rocks hurt you, then get out under them.
After a part of the battle Crush will change the circles of the field to
red. Now, however, he won't emit the electric waves, but the fireballs so.
The blue circles will appear again, and some of them were changed to red
circles. In fact, escaping of the electric wave is harder them the
fireball.
Near of the final of the battle when you flame Crush he'll chase you to
beat you with the rock he's holding, simply run until he beats the ground,
the rocks will fall off again.
Keep attentive to the sheeps Elfora throw for you. Notice that in the
left-bottom corner of the screen is Crush's energy, when it reaches to
zero, that means, when there's no more any dots it means that Crush was
defeated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Autumn Plains~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~atmpl
Autumn Plains is a place full of levels like Summer Forest was and now you
don't start inside any level, therefore you have the option to go. Autumun
Plains is very nice, probably the most cool levels are here, but it's very
big as well and has some pitfalls, but nothing that Spyro's sliding move
can't solve.
Notes:
-Moneybags open the Zephyr portal for 40 gems.
-Moneybags teaches you how to climb for 400 gems
-You need at least 8 Orbs to open the door near Professor.
-Moneybags open the bridge for Shady Oasis for 400 gems.
-Moneybags open the Icy Speedway for 100 gems.
Orbs:
#1. In the corredor near Icy Speedway is a wall with some fissures. Break
it with dash attack, you'll find a magic shortcut, it takes you to the
high of the castle in Autumn Plains, there's even another magic shortcut,
this will take you to a high tower. From this high tower slide to a peak,
there is an Orb there.
#2. There is a "catwalk" in the under part of Autumn Plains which is
actually the wall of the castle. In the final of it is a cracked surface
which can be broken with the dash attack, there is an Orb behind it. A way
to go on this catwalk is sliding in the area where is Metro Speedway
portal or from the high of the castle where you have just walked by to get
the Orb #1.
o----------------------o
| SKELOS BADLANDS | skbld
o----------------------o
Can you get across the Badlands? That's what you have to do basically in
this lava-Jurassic world. There are many fast enemies out and hard work to
acquire the Orbs what make me to think that Skelos Badlands as the first
levels is requiring too much.
Notes:
-Due some hard enemies to kill you can count with little rocks to spit
them at safe range.
-Spyro can swim in the water in the game, but the lava still hurting him.
-By killing 16 enemies you can use the shield powerup.
Orbs:
#1. Lumpy is a caveman that open the bridge for you if you accept to
protect the men of his tribe. Every one is near dinosaur eggs which will
be born ready to eat. Flame the dinosaur after it's born without any
caveman be swallowed.
#2. After saving the village you have another challenge, harder, however.
#3. Rescue all the bones to Ooga. These bones are with lava frogs.
#4. There is a vase ? near the final portal. Break it and following the
other vases that appear afterwards it.
o----------------------o
| CRYSTAL GLACIER | ctglc
o----------------------o
As long as you thaw the Eskimos by using Spyro's flame attack, they'll
allow you to get across this level. There are many dangers and the ice
wizards are the worst of them. Crystal Glacier is a long level only for 2
Orbs. You'll find water that hurts besides the pitfalls.
Notes:
-The ice wizards can be destroyed only by fire.
-You need to had killed at least 15 enemies to use the flying powerup.
-Moneybags will open the bridge up for 200 gems.
Orbs:
#1. Take the leopard back to Shaman Tok. To make that so use the fishes
that bounce off the water. Flame the fish to it get out the hole. After
feeding the leopard with three fishes he'll follow you, go back to Shaman
Tok and allowed task.
#2. Near Shaman Tik there is the flying powerup. With it you can get near
all those green monsters, use the flame attack and kill all them quickly
or they'll multiply themselves again. Shaman Tik give to you an Orb as
gift.
o----------------------o
| BREEZE HARBOUR | bzhbr
o----------------------o
This is a cool level, strange though. It's a port with a big ship. The
enemies aren't that dangerous, they're worried to blow the fire out
instead of attacking you. The bigger danger is the pitfalls. Your
principal task is lighting the caldrons on fire to make the ship reach its
destiny. To light the caldrons you have to destroy the water bucket
enemies nearby firstly.
Notes:
-To aim the seed in the ground use /\ and shoot with O.
-By killing 14 enemies you can use the jump pad.
Orbs:
#1. Destroy all the floating mines to gain an Orb. They can be destroyed
by the cannon.
#2. The pelican Fisher will give you an Orb if you collect 50 gears. To
reach the place where it is you need the spring powerup. Upon talking
Fisher hop on the window, Spyro automatically ride on the trolley. It's on
the trolley that you get all the 50 gears. Pay attention on the obstacles,
desviate them with Left and Right and press O to shot.
o----------------------o
| FRACTURE HILLS | fthls
o----------------------o
I don't like very much of this level because I think it very odd, but we
have to pass through it. Your final point is locked by a mountain that
will be destroyed by each statue released by you. Those statues are the
Stayrs, which were petrified. To release them use your flame attack. There
are 6 Satyrs on total.
Notes:
-By killing 14 enemies you can use the superdash powerup;
-Bushes and common tress can be actually enemies.
-The great rock enemy, the Earthshapers, can be defeated if you push them
into the lava by using the dash attack.
Orbs:
#1. The superdash powerup is used to break doors, principally the last
door, which you break to release Faun. With the superdash powerup just
follow the "trail" to find the right way. Breaking the last door talk with
the fain inside the room and you gain the Orb.
#2. Escort Alchemist to Hunter. Alchemist has a potion that can release
Hunter from that rock, however he need to be protected of the Earthshapers.
#3. Once Hunter is released he'll call you to destroy the Earthshapers.
After firing an arrow you have to use the headbash (this move will be
learned soon, so you'll have to back). You have just a chance to attack
each Earthshape. By destroying all them you gain an Orb.
o----------------------o
| MAGMA CONE | mgmcn
o----------------------o
This level is as lame as its size. There was going to have a party in the
volcano if the Earthshapers hadn't closed it. This level has some grass
parts while others with lava. In the lava area you have to stay attentive
to any dangerous, and the main dangers in the volcano level is always the
lava. Some of these Earthshapers you will be forced to destroy in case you
want to reach the final.
Notes:
-To destroy the Earthshapers just use the dash on them toward the X marked
on ground. A Faun will throw a rock on its head or something like it.
-Moneybags will cover 200 gems to turn the elevator on. Without this
elevator you won't to to lava area, where is the final of the level.
-You close the top of the volcano by just reaching its top. Use the
ladders for that.
-From the top of the volcano you can go to an area where you find the
flight powerup, which you need to had killed at least 2 enemies to use it.
-Once you reached to bridge where the flight powerup is, a magic shortcut
will appear for you. This shortcut is near the entrance that goes to
elevator.
Orbs:
#1. In the grass area look for a hole in the cone where is a ladder, you
can go to there by sliding and after climbing a ladder that you find
inside this cone, and in the deep is an ice cave. Down there is Hunter.
Talk him, a mini-game. Get 10 of those green crystals and you win. You can
see where the green crystal will pop out by following the white smoke on
the ground.
#2. By getting Orb #1 Hunter will suggest you the same mini-game, however
now to win you have t get 15 green crystals.
#3. Have a talk with Chedda, he's near the flight powerup, and destroy all
the lava monsters to gain an Orb. Spyro's flame attack is enough, but the
chances of you get hurt by them is as high as near you're from them, so
spit in them the lava rock. On total there are 12 lava monsters. Keep
attentive to your flight powerup. Although it lasts very much time in this
level longer than in any other it's no infinite.
o----------------------o
| SHADY OASIS | sdyss
o----------------------o
Your objective is guiding the hippopotamus through the final. Use the
flame attack in the tree to a berry fall off, he'll eat it, then he grows
and runs to the door. This hippopotamus will break a door, granting you
new accesses to new areas. This world is cool, although there are some
dangers. Shady Oasis has very lame enemies in general, some of them
however know how to defend themselves.
Notes:
-Arriving the final it'll appear a magic shortcut for you.
-By defeating 18 enemies you can use the invincibility powerup.
-In the chest with the target on its top you can break by using the
headbash.
Orbs:
#1. There is an hippopotamus named Bruno near the final (my name). Talk
him, you'll see three enemies holding an lamp. Your objective is beating
in those enemies, then you rescue the lamps and gain the Orbs. The problem
is that they're very fast and the trick to beat them is making closed
corners.
#2. To accomplish this mission of hippopotamus Grundy you need the
headbash move, which you learn afterwards. When you had it, come back and
talk him, you need also the protection powerup. Follow Grunty and use the
headbash to release his 8 brothers. Grunty awards you with an Orb.
o----------------------o
| METRO SPEEDWAY | mtspw
o----------------------o
Win all the course and after talk with Mayor. Mayor is inside a building
which one has an waterfall covering the entrance that you have to take to
get it. Mayor will give you a task together Hunter. Hunter will attack the
burglars, then diamond chests will fall off. Your task is firing in those
chests. Make that on all the chests to gain an Orb.
o----------------------o
| ICY SPEEDWAY | cyspw
o----------------------o
Icy Speedway works like Ocean Speedway. You have some objects and beings
in the field to destroy/pass through. Firstly destroy the igloo with the
dash and talk with Hunter. Now so, win this mini-game and after enter gain,
talk with Hunter and you're challenged to a mini-game that renders you an
Orb in case you win.
Your objective is passing through the rings, for that basically use the
Left and Right D-Pad. A ring that you miss and the mini-game ends, you
have to start over again. While Hunter pulls Spyro by the rope try to keep
your parachute in three positions, right, left and in the middle according
with the ring you want to pass.
o----------------------o
| GULP'S OVERLOOK | glplk
o----------------------o
Cost: 14 talismans
Your boss now is Gulp. Different of Crunch, Gulp is quadruped, but he has
a weapon in the back to hurt you, this weapon fires electric balls. Gulp
also is hard, he'll try to run over you or fall on it with short jumps.
Flame and dash attack from Spyro are unusable against him, due that you
have to count at all the time with the eggs thrown by the birds.
What gets out from the egg will help you. If it's a barrel use the dash to
throw it at Gulp. If it's a bomb, use the flame attack to push it at him
(the flame makes it light on fire). If it's a little rock then spyro will
swallow, so fire it at Gulp. Gulp will swallow bombs and spit fire
explosion, then deviate. Besides all this, each time he gets hurt he jumps
and all the items are destroyed. Take advantage of the hens that fall off,
they'll recover Spyro's energy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Winter Tundra~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~wttnd
This is the last huge place you're going to pass through. Winter Tundra
has many snow and rocks, also some ways and few levels, however the most
cool of them are found here, and the odd ones too. The boss of this place
is Ripto, and to defeat it you have to get the last talismans. Prepare
because now the game is happen to end, but there's a lot to do yet.
Notes:
-Moneybags teaches you the headbash move for 1000 gems. (thief!!)
-Some rocks in Winter Tundra are broken only by the headbash move.
-Moneybags open the portal for Canyon Speedway for 200 gems.
-A magic shortcut takes you to the top of the big stairs.
Orbs:
#1. Near the portal for Mystic Mash is a very big rock. Break it with the
headbash, there is an Orb under it.
#2. From the top of the stairs slide to the right side and you find an Orb
on the top of the wall.
#3. Following through the wall you'll find an waterfall. There is a lake
under it and a water way beneath it that takes you to the place where the
Orb is.
o----------------------o
| MYSTIC MARSH | mytrh
o----------------------o
This levels is a bit odd, cool though. First of all the enemies are not
that static, but they're as easy to be defeat as always. Besides that the
ammount of frogs is high, due that there shouldn't have many butterflies
to Sparky eat. With a lake in the center of the field and a higher area
with dangers, exploring Mystic Marsh will the type of level that you'll go
a lot and back because its shape is round although it presents a final
point.
Notes:
-By killing at least 20 enemies you can use the spring jump powerup. It
grants you access to the superior part of the level. You can go to this
area by using a magic short cut, it's far though.
-The magic shortcut allows you to go to where Professor is.
-To kill the spike-fish use the horn attack while the spikes are shrunk.
Orbs:
#1. By reaching the final portal you gain an Orb from the Water Wizard.
The spring jump powerup allows you to reach it.
#2. Basil the explorer is in the superior part of the level. Upon talking
with it, 4 cats will be in 4 different areas. Each one of them has 1 plug
and your objective is beating in the cat, flame or dash, and rescue the
plug for the explorer. Remember of the lamps you rescued in Shady Oasis?
These cats are pretty easier than they.
#3. By finding Professor he'll give you an egg. Your objective is trading
it until you find the pencil he has lost. After the dialogue, take it to
the bucket near the tree that has a nest, jump on it and throw the egg in
the nest. A bird will throw a seed for you. Swallow it and throw it in the
vase near the stream, a plant will pop out and throw a duck for you. Take
it to mummy duck in the final of the stream, she'll throw a fruit. Throw
this fruit in the caldron that is in the cave, a coin will be thrown out
of it. Throw this coin in the fountain, the fountain will throw a pencil,
take it to Professor and get your Orb.
o----------------------o
| CLOUD TEMPLES | cltpl
o----------------------o
I do not know exactly how many, but you need at least a number of Orbs to
gain access to the portal of this level. There area basically two kind of
wizards, the good ones and the evil ones. The evil ones has stolen the
magic wands of the good ones and they're messing up everything. As long as
you defeat the evil wizards the good ones will reveal their power by
helping you. The bigger danger of this level is the fall. A new is the ice
powerup.
Notes:
-Certain enemies when killed will let a lava rock on field. Use it to spit
on the evil wizards, and hurt them safely.
-Certain statues will move and become alive enemies to attack you.
-By killing at least 21 enemies you can use the ice powerup.
Orbs:
#1. By reaching the final of the level the good wizard will give you an
Orb.
#2. Agent Zero is a big dumb. Talk him and follow it to the secret club to
gain an Orb. He can't see you, otherwise he won't go to his secret club.
So, hide behind trees and enter in his secret club before its doors close
and you gain the Orb.
#3. When you can use the ice powerup you noticed that some fire-like
enemies appear up. Fire them and the ice makes them become an ice cube.
Use them to go up on the floors. Your objective is beating on total 3
bells. A magic shortcut rises for the third bell when you had beaten in
the two first ones. You beat in the bell by using the dash move.
o----------------------o
| ROBOTICA FARMS | rbcfm
o----------------------o
This is the best example that Spyro levels besies a bit very creative are
very odd. A farm where everything is robot-like. Your objective here is
helping the farmers to get rid of the bugs. As always reach the final.
Robotica Farms is a huge level and as main danger the flying bug enemies.
Notes:
-An yellow ball will be thrown from a pipe found in several places. Use it
to kill those bugs that judge dangerous, mainly the flying ones.
-There is an enemy that will spin in case you get too close. Different
from the ones you found neither the dash nor fire will defeat, use the
headbash so (X + /\).
-By killing 15 enemies you can use the superdash powerup.
Orbs:
#1. By reaching the final portal you find a farmer that will turn on the
lamp that will be used to kill the bugs. He'll give you an Orb.
#2. Clean the way for the tractor. Near the farmer of the final portal
there is a platform with other farmer, there is the superdash powerup. Use
it along the track and destroy all the barriers. Along the track you'll
release magic shotrcut.
#3. Farmer Applebee don't handle any further those bees terrifying his
scarecrows, flame them to gain an Orb. If you don't kill all them in a
short time they'll appear again. Notice that they do a circle course, use
the top of the mountain to jump and flame. One of the hardest mini-games
that you've ever seen.
o----------------------o
| METROPOLIS | mtrpl
o----------------------o
Professor opens the portal of this world depending on how many Orbs you
have, I don't know how many, but the higher is the ammount, better for you.
The enemies are cows and pigs, and they have good range attack moves, so
patience. Metropolis has an extensive way, however only in the final area
you'll have a lot to explore.
Notes:
-To make the elevator move use the headbash.
-By killing at least 9 enemies you can use the flight and fireball powerup
(two in one).
Orbs:
#1. A stari will take you to an area with an ice track where you have an
ox in the final. The ox will throw bombs, your task is defeating it. Fire
flame in bombs to them be thrown back to it. Notice is energy bar in the
right side of the screen, when it reaches zero you won and receives an Orb
from the guy near the entrance.
#2. By finding Inventor Droid, the final portal is open and you gain an
Orb.
#3. By finding Inventor Droid, after the portal is open, she'll talk about
certain sheeps on spaceships. Get ride of them by using the fireball and
flight powerup. There will be a wave, and following other, defeat all them
to gain the Orb.
o----------------------o
| CANYON SPEEDWAY | cnspw
o----------------------o
You have noticed that to gain an Orb in any Speedway you have to find
Hunter and complete the course. Now he's on the high of a mountain near
the vultures. Complete the course once and talk him. The mini-game this
time is hitting all the targets. To that you'll be mounted on a spaceship
and shall fire with the button O and move the aim with the D-Pad. Don't
miss any target. By winning the mini-game Hunter will give you an Orb.
o----------------------o
| RIPTO'S ARENA | rptrn
o----------------------o
You need a specific amount of Orbs. The battle is divided in parts because
fighting with Ripto will be longer than it was against Crunch and Gulp.
Though Ripto is a dragon as little as Spyro, he has a very powerful wand,
besides that he's very smart.
1st. part: While Professor researches a special kind of power to help you
defeat Ripto, Elora's fairy friends will throw Orbs for you. By joinning 3
of them you temporally have a powerup, and it's using that powerup that
you hurt Ripto in this first part of the battle. There are red and green
Orbs, it doesn't matter which color you get. But Ripto isn't dumb, he'll
get also those Orbs and if he joins 3 he'll use a special powerup, but a
bit different of yours. This part isn't very hard, there are many sheeps
and don't hurry.
2nd. part: The challenge for Orbs is still up, this time who swallows Orbs
will be a robot very alike with Gulp. He starts eatting Orbs and will try
to join 3 like Ripto has tried seconds ago. Gulp-like robot has worse
powers, however, mainly if the power is based on red Orbs. What you have
to do is join 3 Orbs and attack Gulp-robot. This part is easier, at least
I think. A new Orb is the blue one and you don't execute its powerup with
O, but so with [].
3rd part: In this part you have permanently the flight and fireball
powerup. The field has turned into lava, but there's no how to use sheeps
to recover your energy. Ripto is mounted on a kind of bird-robot and while
it flies, Ripto will fire magic balls at you. What you have to do now is
firing your fireballs until he's defeated. This part is the easier, it's
long though.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Dragon Shores~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~dgshr
After defeating Ripto you see the credits, jump by using START if you want.
You'll go to Dragon Shores. The portal for Dragon Shores is in the middle
of Winter Tundra. In Dragon Shore you'll find green-colored guys named
Gatekeepers. The first door of Dragon Shores is open only if you got ALL
the Orbs of the game. Well, if you didn't get then back to the levels and
get what you missed. Once you have collected all the Orbs, Gatekeeper will
open the Dragon Shores door for you.
After all, what's so interesting in that place? Well, not very great
things, indeed what you'll find there are just some mini-games that when
you win you gain a token. By joining 10 tokens you can go to theater,
where you can watch all the movies of the whole game how many times you
want. Below is how to get each token. Near there should be a Showman
(other green creature):
-Spit the baseball in the target to make the Collossus Yeti, Earthshaper
and Sunny Beach Chef fall in the water.
-Showman Gnelson challenges you 3 times in a target-shot mini-game which
you throw fire balls.
-In the love tunel you have just to hop on the boat and it's random with
whom Spyro goes out after the ride. Anyway, one more token.
-Your objective in the trolley of this mini-game of Showman Gnigel is
firing in all the balloons and avoiding obstacles. Three challenges in
this mini-game.
Talk with Showman Gned, he'll open the theater door for you in case you
collected 10 toekns.
There is also one more door, which you open if you collected ALL the gems
of the game. What's behind it? Well, the PERMANENT fireball powerup. Do
you want anything else better than just? For me it is unusable once the
game has reached its end unless you want to acquire the Skill Points. Read
the section about to take more info.

| 5. Skill Points |
--------------------------\____________________/--------------------------
When you reaches the Dragon Shores a new page is added to your Guidebook.
In it you find the skill points, they're gained by accomplish some tasks.
Those skill points appear in the Guidebooak at the moment you get it and
also a little noise indicates it. Below how to get each one of them.
Level Skill Point
1. Skelos Badlands Under cactus
2. Hurricos Under the windmills
3. Colossus Perfect on hockey
4. Fracture Hills 3 laps with superdash powerup
5. Crush's Dungeon Perfect
6. Gulp's Overlook Perfect
7. Ripto's Arena Perfect
8. Scorch All the trees
9. Ocean Speedway Under 1:10
10. Metro Speedway Under 1:15
11. Icy Speedway Under 1:15
12. Canyon Speedway Under 1:10
13. Idol Springs Land on Idol
14. Aquaria Towers All the Seaweed
15. Gulp's Overlook Hit Ripto
16. Skelos Badlands Catbat Quartet
Notes:
-To get skills 1, 2, 8 e 14 you have simply to use the fireball in such
item of the level. For example, in the case of skill point 1 flame all the
cactus that are around Skellos Badlands. Where to get the fireball
powerup? In Dragon Shores there is the permanent fireball powerup,
remember?
-For skill 3 you have to make a time of 5:0 in the hockey game one vs one,
according that you have to score 5 and opponent 0.
-For skill 4 you have to use the superdash powerup as you would use
normally to release the faun, however instead of charging in the door turn
to left and complete more two laps.
-To get skills 5, 6 and 7 you have to kill the chef without taking any hit.
It's not very hard as it seems because Crunchy, Gulp and Ripto aren't
bosses that hard as in many games.
-For skills 9, 10, 11 and 12 you have to complete each speedway withit the
indicated number.
-For skill 15 use the fireball powerup to hit Ripto.
-For skill 16 go back to Autumn Plains portal. There is an area with four
Catbats. If you move toward them they'll fly up, preventing that you flame
them. To get them use the fireball powerup from a safe distance.
Why get those skill points? Well, the game has ended and if you reached up
to now, then getting those skill points is the only amusement you have
left. For each two skill points you get an extra life is given to Spyro.
When you have 8, an epilog is added to Guidebook, explaining what happened
to each character after the history events. When you have 16, a bit more
is added, showing various enemies that would be in the game, that were
taken out for several reasons.

| 5. FAQ |
--------------------------\____________________/--------------------------
Q.: Won't you help me to get all the gems of the level?
A.: No, I won't. Explain how to get each gem would make this walkthrough
extremely huge, besides that it would be very difficult and finishing hits
was too hard for me. If you're missing any gem of your collection, go to
the level that it's missing and check out for all the corners, buckets and
vases, that's what I did.
Q.: Where is Sparx?
A.: Sparx doesn't fly around when Spyro has no energy. This means that in
the next hit you take it'll result on your death and that you'll lose an
extra life.
Q.: I can't find the portal for the level __________. And now?
A.: You can find Elora in the three huge worlds (Summer Forest, Autumn
Plains and Winter Tundra). Talk here, Elora will take you to a portal that
you didn't visit yet or didn't get the talisman.
Q.: Which are the cheat codes used to change the color of Spyro, abilities
and gain items?
A.: I don't know which one they are. I know there are lots of them, but I
won't include their name in my walkthrough.
Q.: Where to learn the move that allows to __________?
A.: Any movement is learned with Moneybags, who always cover some gems.
To Dive - Summer Forest
To Climb - Autumn Plains
Headbash - Winter Tundra
Q.: How do I go to Dragon Shores?
R.: You need to had won Ripto, then that portal in the middle of Winter
Tundra will be open, allowing you to go to Dragon Shores.
