Nintendo 64

Review by Bass260

"An Amazing System? Yes! Best System Ever? I don't think so!"

The Nintendo 64 was Nintendo's Home Console from 1996 to about 2001 until the Nintendo GameCube came out and took its place as the New Nintendo Home Console. Many will argue that the Nintendo GameCube is better then the Nintendo 64. Some will say the Nintendo 64 is better. Well heres the awesome games that the Nintendo 64 has to offer. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time is one of the most loved game ever. It is probably one of the most played games to today and is probably still being played as we speak. It got a sequel The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. A highly recommended game too but I would say the Ocarina of Time is better. To the next game!

Another popular game was Super Mario 64. It was a launch game for the N64. In 1996 when the N64 and Super Mario 64 came out there weren't to many 3D games out. Every game was usually 2D at the time. Super Mario 64 made a big impact in gaming. It was one of the first or even maybe the first 3D game ever. 3D games are very common today but if you remember being a N64 owner and picking up Super Mario 64 for the first time, you would have the joy of seeing a game in 3D for the first time. Super Mario 64 has done so much for gaming and hats off to Nintendo for being one of the first 3D developers ever. Super Mario 64 has earned its self a Port to the DS and got one. Now to another game!

One other popular game was GoldenEye 007. Most people would know GoldenEye from James Bond. GoldenEye 007 was a First Person Shooter. It was one of the first to be an FPS. Many people had played it and this game earned its self a sequel as well. It wasn't really a sequel but it was by the same Developers of GoldenEye 007 and they intended it to be a sequel. This sequel was Perfect Dark. Perfect Dark had the character Joanna Dark who is a very loved character that is still remembered. As a sequel Perfect Dark wasn't as good as GoldenEye 007 but still remains a N64 top choice. Next Game!

One other popular Mario title was Paper Mario. It came out very late in the N64's life. It was released sometime in 2000. Since the GC was coming out in 2001, not to many N64 titles were coming out. There was one game by the name of Paper Mario that was the hit of the year 2000. You could say it was a sequel to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on the SNES. It showed the Mario could cover any Genre even RPG's. Its sad that the game wasn't recognized as being a one of the N64's best, because of its late release. A few more game to cover!

A Developer, by the name of Rare really helped the N64 when the Nintendo's rival, Sony and their PlayStation took over the gaming world. Luckily Rare was a big help. Did I mention Rare developed GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark. Now you know what a big help they were. Rare also developed Donkey 64, in my opinion the best Donkey Kong game. It was a little underrated but still a well known game. There was another series that Rare made. The Banjo series. This series was more well known then Donkey Kong 64. It was very popular and every N64 owner I know owned a copy of Banjo-Tooie and Banjo-Kazooie. Finally done with the games now on the to the other stuff.

Game Play 10/10
The Game Play was at its best with almost every N64 game. We all love are Zelda, Mario and GoldenEye but even some other not so great games had some good Game Play. There was some games that just made the N64 look bad but then there were the good games. The good games are some of the best games and have great Game Play. It just had this type of Game Play that kept the system chugging along. Lets head to Graphics!

Graphics 10/10
The graphics were one of the systems strong points as well. With the ability to have 3D games, the System became a nice 3D graphics System. When it was one of first games to have 3D graphics it instantly become a poular system and we should thank it for giving us the 3D video game world. Now to the Sound!

Sound 10/10
Another Perfect Score. Back then, not many Developers cared about Sound as much as they do now, but 10 years ago the N64 had some very good music. Some would include some of the Super Mario 64 tunes, the Zelda classic music and some GoldenEye and Perfect Dark music that is put into newer James Bond games. Over to the Control Room!

Control 10/10
The Controls were very simple and easy to use. The analog stick is in the middle and they even included a D-Pad as well on the left side. It had an A button, a B button and some yellow arrow things. The Controls were basic and as I said easy to use. This made it fun and easy to play the games if you are a beginner. Now Overall.....

Overall 10/10
With a perfect score, the Nintendo 64 is a Perfect System. With games like Perfect Dark, Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and GoldenEye 007 this Perfect System will never get boring. As I said in my Title this is a great System but comes up close to the NES, Nintendo's first home Console System. I hope you liked the Review and Bye!
