Bomberman 64: The Second Attack!

Review by Mega

"Did Bomberman bomb?"

I eagerly awaited BM2, so as soon as it came to BlockBuster, I quickly rented it. I was surprised at the pretty good looking intro and the nice graphics. But, without further ado, here is my review! ( A ryhme! )

STORY (9/10)

Rukifellth, an evil space pirate is taking over space. He is the reincarnation of.. well, you'll see. Bomberman, a space lady named Lillith, and a Kirby-ish dude named Pommy must rescue space by destroying Rukifellth's minions, the Astral Knights, and and getting different bombs. After each Knight is beaten, a cut scence starts up and explains more of the story.

GAMEPLAY (7/10)

The levels are EXTREMLY big, and it is easy to get lost in them. Plus, lets say you get a Bomb Kick ability. You die, and that ability, plus all the others you have gotten such as Bomb Power-Ups, Skates, and Gloves dissapear and you have to find them all over again. Can we say frusterating? Also, there is TONS ( And when I say tons I mean TONS! ) of backtracking in the levels, and that gets annyoing too.

GRAPHICS (9/10)

The graphics are surprisingly good. A little bit of slow-down happens sometimes, but other then that, they are great. The levels each have a theme, so the plant Aquia ( I think thats it.. ) would be surrounded by rich and clear water, and the game planet, Starlight, would be in a Vegas style theme. The levels are textured, and beautiful. I would say this is one of the best points in the game.

SOUND (?/10)

I haven't played in a while, and I totally forgot about the sound.. Sorry! But I do know Pommy's little grunts are annoying..

CONTROL (10/10)

EXCELLENT CONTROL! No slow response, and the controls are easy to learn aswell. All the buttons you need to learn you will know in a matter of minutes.

POMMY (6/10)

The little guy can be annoying, and his little noises are dumb! Plus, you only must get food of 1 kind ( Vegtable, Cake, or Meat ) for him to evolve. Plus, he is pretty dang dumb, no matter what others say. I hear, ''Oh, this Pommy is smart!'' Its not! Not once has Pommy ever went to help me out! No, Pommy had to destroy other bad guys while some idiot drones were attacking me when I had no skates, no powered up bombs, or anything elese.. The only thing that got this dumb fluff-ball a 6 was its other forms, which look pretty cool..

FRUSTERATING?

VERY!

REPLAYABLE?

Yes, only because of the custom Bomberman Parts you can get in the game. You can customize your Bomber with odd parts, like a cat hat, Bigfoot Shoes, a Tank (!), and other odd stuff, then duke it out with the Custom Bomber in Battle Mode.

BATTLE MODE (10/10)

Excellent, and the extra modes will ensure you play this game for a long time!

RENT OR BUY?

Rent first, since it is frusterating. Choose then.

FINAL WORDS

I made this bold because of its semi-importance. Bomberman TSA is a hard game. Not hard in a fun, challengeing way, but in a mean, evil, you'll never win because the boss is so cheap way. The game IS fun, but the frusteration factor weighs down the score to a 7..
