Xena: Warrior Princess - The Talisman of Fate

"Only the broken heart that bears inside me would dislike this"

Hello, this is my first review. It may be a shock by my username that I chose to review this game, but I will do so anyways. Xena Warrior Princess is a title many would probably know. It used to air on the Oxygen channel and may still do. Ever since Xena gained popularity, there have been attempts to gain the audience of younger people. Xena Warrior Princess: Warrior Princess is an example of that. Not only was Xena on the Nintendo 64, but also in an adventure game for the Playstation. Playstation gets the adventure game and Nintendo 64 gets a fighting game. I might as well be glad, because that has gotten bad reviews same with this.

How should I start this? Ah, the graphics. The graphics are actually quite well done. They could be a little blocky, but I guess that's how the graphics is. I have to say, Ares is probably the only character that looks like his TV self. Xena looks horrible. Despair looks very well done. Although, I don't remember much about seeing him on the TV show, unless he was that angry demon in the last episode. But I have to say, well done. The developers must have had taken some time in that.

The sound may not be so good. Excuse the lack of sense that sentence made, but it's true. I don't believe that Xena was voiced by Lucy Lawless. All the characters sound different from their TV self. Unless Lucy had a cold or something, she sounds very different. Bad job. I do have to say that the narrator sound very great and serious, and the blasts do, too. Bad job.

Ever wondered if a video game needs a plot? I believe that the Super Smash Brawls for the Nintendo Wii has one, but this game is older. All you basically do is fight until you get to the boss which is Despair. If you win the fight against him, there's a small cutscene showing you holding a globe of some sort in your hands and the message that the world is in your hands or similar text. I think that's done quite well.

Now on to the nice gameplay. The gameplay is not so well, but not so bad. The C buttons are the fighting buttons, while you also use the doohicky at the bottom of the controller and the R buttons. The L button probably has no use as well with the D buttons. All of this would be fine if it wasn't for the special attacks. There are certain combinations of the C buttons if you want to do one blast. This makes fighting difficult and very aggravating.

Overall, this game is pretty well. I think you will enjoy this game. If you want, you can do any way you can to get this game. As long as it doesn't cost you to do many things you never thought you would do for a Nintendo 64 cartridge. Thank you.
