WWF No Mercy
Review by SwampFox
"a good game that could have been great"
WWF No Mercy. A game I have been waiting for for so long. I have dreamed of it. I downloaded every single movie of it. And now, it's finally here.
Gameplay: This is the greatest wrestling engine out there. Smackdown can't hold a candle to it. It has been improved from last years WWF2k by adding running grapples, weapons that don't dissapear, tables (not movable though), backstage brawling, and my personal favorite, ladders. Screwing over your friends in the guest referee match is great. The iron man match is also a welcomed addition. Every new option in WWF No Mercy is welcomed. But, oh, there is a problem. SLOWDOWN. That's right. 4 people in the ring together is like playing in slow motion. After playing fast-paced 1 on 1 matches, we move on to slow-motion 4 way battles. Now, it isn't so slow that it isn't enjoyable, but it does take a great deal of excitement out of this game. I was kinda dissapointed with the smackdown mall. It is still a great option, but i would have liked more moves and crazier costumes to be bought.

Story: The angles in the story mode could be better, but the recycled ones from wwf past can be entertaining. For example: you can reinact the whole angle with the rock, hhh, foley, and someone else (not big show, cause he isn't in game) from December 99 to may 2000. I will not tell any more of the story cause it will ruin some of your experiences.

Graphics: There are some wrestlers that actually look really good. I despise Vicera, but i gotta admit, he looks like the fat peice of crap that he is. Now that's accuracy. There are some minor complaints on some of the visuals, but overall, it is good to look it. Nothing bad, but then again, nothing spectacular.

Replayability: Playing normal matches by yourself can be entertaining now and then. but it is in the career mode that you find your deepest experience. It will take a while to unlock everything in the smackdown mall and to get Andre the Giant. The create-a-wrestler is back and its better than ever. The create-a-ppv is back and it still is useless in my opinion.

Buy/Rent: Well, if you are a wwf fan and liked WWF2k, then this is a buy. If you do not watch wrestling and just like the AKI engine, then you can rent it now and then.
Problems: just have 1 more thing to mention. The glitch. yeah...it just happened to me this morning (10/18/00). Goodbye created raven, created mortimer, created fat man in womens clothing. Goodbye $67,000, mick foley, cactus jack, and my career mode saves. This should not have happened.
Also, you can only edit a wrestlers clothes and profile. nothing else. that makes me mad. :(
