Road Rash 64
Review by General Eric
"The best motercycle racing game hits the N-64!"
Hi, I'm General Eric, and I had my Sega Genesis for about 4 years, and one of my favorite games on the system was Road Rash 2 and 3, I liked them because they were funny and cool, the basic story of the game was that you were in a lot of mortarcycle street races that were in a lot of places, from Alaska to Australia, you wanted to be in the top 4, but the fun of the game lyied in many things, you could beat your opponeants with metal rods, chains, and other stuff but they hit you back, there was coming and going traffic that you could knock other people into, and plus there were cops that wanted to arrest you, and the only way they could arrest you was to knock you off your bike, but you could knock them off there bikes too, but there were many cop stuff you couldn't do anything but run away from, like Police Helicopters, Police Cars, and Police roadblocks that got in your way, and all that stuff was really fun, but the best option on it was that after every race was a mini-cutscene that looked liked the Excitebike graphics upgraded to Super Nintendo standards, and those were super-funny, when you got arrested by cops it showed one of many cut-scenes of you trying to get away, there were many cut-scnes that showed one of the following thing: You getting arrested, your motarcycle broken down, you losing a race, and you winning a race, there's about 25 cutscenes in all. Now enough of the Genesis, on to Nintendo. I'm proud to report that the N-64 version does not dissapoint and will make you a fan once again!
Graphics 9/10
The graphics are really great quality, they kinda look like Goldeneyes graphics and are a really big up-grade over it's Genesis dads, these graphics are great for a racer, also the cars and riders look really cool, the backgrounds are cool and mostly everything is great, I really have very much too say about graphics.
Sound/Music 9/10
Sound is really great here, the people's grunts, the crash sounds, the cops yelling at you, the crashes, the people getting hit sound, also after each level someone will say something to you, the sound is great, the music is really great, it's sounds like some sort of Rock/Punk music, it should have been put on a CD, too bad.
Gameplay 8/10
This game rocks! Everything you loved about the original is here and there's more! Plus the multiplayer is way better than the Genesis ones. The only problem here is that they took out those funny cut-scenes, that would have boosted the gameplay. If everything in the beginning didn't explain everything to you in the levels you are in a mortarcycle race, you must place in first in many races to win, but there's many things in your way, like cops, traffic etc. and when you place in the top 4 you get money to spend on new bikes. Overall this is a very fun game.
Replay Value 8/10
It has high replay value, it's multiplayer is fun and can be plaied with one player, single player is great also but the best here is the multiplayer, you won't get tired soon.
