WWF No Mercy
Review by Blak
"Best wrestling game of all time? Maybe...."
Graphics: 6
The surroundings look awesome!! The Arena's are done well, and so are the chairs, stop signs, ladders, and all the other weapons. That's only half the battle. The other half is making the wrestlers look good. THQ failed at this. The bodies of the wrestlers look ok, but the faces...if only looks could kill. All the faces look like they've been pasted on pieces of paper. And the clothes also look the same. There are only a few faces that look pretty good and the rest look like crap. Also, the clipping is also horrible. I can see the Undertaker's hand go right threw someone's throat and out the other side when doing a chokeslam. That's only one clipping problem out of thousand's in the game. Other than the clipping and the horrid looking wrestlers, everything looks pretty damn good.
Sound: 8
The sound really isn't all that bad. For being on the N64, the game sounds pretty good. What brought down the score for the game's sound, was that the wrestlers didn't talk when going through the story line. That would have been really awesome if that would have been done. Other than that, the sound is crisp and clear.
Control: 9
The control is still as easy as counting to three, which is the game's best feature. Just one or two button presses could do a suplex, chokeslam, or any other real powerful move. This gives the game an easy learning curve and gives any gamer some real fun. If you base a good game on control, then this is the game to get.
Fun Factor: 8
This game is really fun once you get the hang of it. When I first started, it was very annoying at times. I was getting reversed at every move and couldn't pull off anything. I felt like throwing my controller through the wall. But I calmed down and learned the game well enough that I knew when I was going to be reversed and when not. If you are a wrestling fan, than yes, this would would be a good game for you. If not, rent it first. What would have made the game even better than what it is, is the Hell in a Cell match. Smackdown 2 got it, so why not No Mercy?
Overall: 7
This game can be really fun, but also very irritating. The games horrid looking wrestlers and the clipping are the only real drawbacks in the game. The reversals that your opponent does can also very annoying at times. The game's awesome controls and cool sound make this a must have for any wrestling fan. This game can also be fun if your a non-wrestling fan, but I would rent it first.
