007: The World is Not Enough
Review by MONSTERMAN1960
"Not the best Bond game for the system."
The day my local video game store got this game I rushed out to buy it. I have herd so much about this game. I loved Goldeneye from rare. I knew that it was not rare that made this game, but I wanted to give it a chance.
Gameplay: This game handles very well. I find the controls to be a good setup for this game. I find the joystick to be very good at moving as far and as fast as I push it. Very good controls. Sometimes it can get hard with such bad auto-aim, and weak weapons, but the game is fun. Rating: 9
Story: It is based on the movie The World is Not Enough, a very good Bond movie. The plot stays very close to the movie, unlike Goldeneye. There are several levels that were not in the movie, but fit in with the plot very well. The last level is a big let down from the movie, and is not as fun as in other last levels in other shooters. Rating: 8
Video: This game has a very good framerate, and the objects in the game look very real. That is about all. Rating: 9
Audio: No Bond music? What? Why? Even without the Bond music, the game has very good music, and it catches on to you very fast. You cant change tracks, and there aren't very many. The sound the guns make sound very real, and the voices of the people are very good. Rating: 7
Replayability: With only 14 single player levels and 14 multi-player levels, the game is quite small compared to other shooters. It will take some time for most people to get everything in multi-player, but it is worth it. A very bad thing is that multi-player is nowhere near as good as Perfect Dark, but still a fun party game with 3 other friends. No cheat code in this pack almost kills the singleplayer mode. I keep going back to other shooters for cool cheats for singleplayer, but with out any singleplayer is short in this game. Rating: 6
Overall rating: 7
Buy or Rent: If you like Bond of shooters get this game. If not I would rent it first.
Read below if you are on the fence.
Problems of the game: *Note: Not counted as part of the rating, so it is after it.* This game has several parts that are not the best parts of the game. The framerate is very good, but there is a reason. In multi-player there can be no more than 4 people playing, including bots and humans. And in singleplayer with out any codes you cant survive more that 6 or more guys attacking you at once, keeping the framerate down. I once turned on high-rez mode in multi, with explosives and stoped the game only a few minutes into it and turned it off. It hurts the framerate a lot with hi-rez. And only having 3 or less bots in multi, I thought that went out with Turok: Rage Wars. This makes having only 4 people total, hard to do some of the ideas that you come up with. The bots are the way they are, you cant change them(health, radar, what they do) and you cant order them around in multi. Enough with multi, now on to single: 14 levels is kind of short, and with out cheat codes it makes it even shorter. Otherwise the singleplayer is very good.
Good Points of the game: *Once again not included in the review* One of my favorite levels in this game is the skiing level. It makes up for a lot of the faults. But multi is also very fun. Some of the levels are very cool, like Air Raid, making some very cool battles. The health system is also very simple, and the game has cool levels in both multi and single.
