Mission: Impossible
Review by WrestlingRPGfan
"Some obvious problems, but it is still a good game."
I remember when this game was going to be one of the first games to be released on the N64. Then it was delayed to insure that we will get our money's worth. Then it was delayed again. And again. And again. Finally, it was released. I think the reason why this game didn't do so well in the market was because wanted another GoldenEye, not a strategy/shooter game.
Graphics
Well, the graphics are very blocky and they don't look a lot like their movie counterparts. There is also a lot, and I do mean a lot, of glitches and bugs still in the game. You would think that a game delayed for so long would've fixed those, but no. Also, this is one of the few Nintendo 64 games that actually freezes up constantly. Constantly may be a bit over the top, but it still freezes up more than a lot of other Nintendo 64 games. However, the graphics are still a lot better than some other N64 games released, so you cannot be too terribly harsh on the graphics. Graphics: 6/10
Sound
Remember on the back of your Nintendo 64 box, it said it would deliver CD-quality sound? Well, this is one of the few Nintendo 64 games that actually lives up to that promise. The instant you plug the game into your N64 and hear the original Mission Impossible theme, you know that the sound will be good. The music is done really well. The sound effects sound good; they sound like what they are supposed to sound like. Even the limited voice acting is done well. Sound: 10/10
Controls
The controls are sub-par. They are responsive, that's granted. But it uses the C buttons too much, and I don't want to have to press C-Left to put on a facemask while I am in the middle of a shoot out. And the jumping can seem awkward. The bottom line is, the controls could have (and should have) been a lot better, but they could have been a lot worse. Controls: 5/10
Replay
This game is a lot more addictive than most people might think. The first time you play the game, you will be surprised at how challenging the game actually is. The puzzles are very hard the first time you play through the game. You may hate the game, but you will still come back for more just so you can say you beat the game. It's too bad that the puzzles are easy the second time through the game, and there is no multiplayer. Replay: 8/10
Challenge: High (the first time through)
This is a good game, but I wouldn't spend more than $15 on the game. Maybe $20 if you are a die-hard fan of the Mission Impossible franchise.
