Super Smash Bros.

"Smash-A-Rific"
A game from way long ago, a classic and a superb hit, Super Smash Brothers should NOT be passed up by any owner of the Nintendo 64. This unique 2d fighter features 12 characters representing Nintendo's best set in some of the best levels of all time. Super Smash Bros can by enjoyed not only by a fighting fan, but a fan of anything. This game will become one of your favorite N64 games and maybe of all time. Simple, short, and to the point, Super Smash Bros will add more than 100+ hours of fun into your gaming on the sweet console they call N64.
The graphics are really nothing to brag about nor scream at, but merely says it as average. Solid framerate however, whenever your playing with your friends, and very pretty colors to look at, at times. Both the courses and characters are average in this department. The sound tends to be more enjoyable as well. Some very nice tunes in KirbyLand, and Peach's Castle. However, the fighting sounds themselves may or may not (depending on your judgment) become annoying. They weren't a problem for me, but whose judging? I am. Ok. As the graphics and sounds look and sound both very nice, the controls are even more enjoyable. Moving around (and jumping) with the analog stick, followed by your main 2 attack buttons - A, and B, special moves - Right Trigger, and even a taunt button as well - Left Trigger, the controls are some of the best I've worked with (in a long while). Everything right to the bottom line, works/sounds/and plays really well.
The main beauty of the cake is the gameplay. And such sweet gameplay it is. Super Smash Bros is basically a 2d fighter set in a 3d world. You'll fight with Nintendo's best - Link, Mario, DK, Samus, Peach, Kirby, and all the rest set in several very unique courses such as Kirby Land, on top of Fox's ship, on top of Peach's Castle, DK's place, and many more. What I liked even more is the interaction of levels. For instant, in Kirby Land, there would be this huge tree that would start trying to blow you off the course, which by the way, the course is in midair. I forgot to mention that if you fall off the course, you loose a life. The more damage you take (shown in percent), will be easier to kill you. And basically, how you die is unique as well. Say you reach to a very high percent number like 200. A character's special attack will literally kick you out of the map and you will be seen in the far distance as a star. You can also play up to 4 players, or against the A.I. (which on level 9 provides a challenge), or try unlocking the 4 hidden characters.
So, to sum it all up, is this ''Smash-A-Rific'' game worth it? I think it is. Even today, you can find it at a nice and cheap price like 20 bones new, or maybe 10 used at an EB. And even if your not a fighting fan, you should give Smash Brothers a change. You might even find it at a Blockbuster (don't rent it, buy it). Even as we get further into the future, this game will be harder to buy. Trust me, if you get lucky and find it - buy it. Just buy it.
