Review by Lord Death

"Aidyn Chronicles, one of the best (and only) RPG for the N64, but is it really all that great?"

First of all I'd like to just say that Rpg are my favorite genre of games. I was quite excited about Aidyn Chronicles when it came out finally. It's a great game, but there are some things that can be improved.

Game play-
The game play is ok, but it's not the best in the world. At first, the start of the game is VERY boring as you learn to get used to the game. The controls are easy to use, interface is easy to learn, but before you start to play you should read about how to fight, what each button does, etc. as you will need all that. Before you play the game you will be thinking about how great it's going to be to finally have a RPG for N64, but as you play it, it turns out to be very boring at first. You will complain about how slow you move, how long the battles take, how bad the graphics are, etc. But if you can put up with all that, you will soon be treated to one of the best games for N64.

Score: 9

Story-
The story is basically very straight forward, at first. Basically you need to go to each town to look for help while doing other people's side quests in order to get the help you need. It sounds lame right now and when you first start to play but as you continue playing and get further and further the storyline will develop more. Though, in my opinion the story could have been a lot better. That is why I give a low score to the storyline.

Score: 7

Sounds-
The sound effects in Aidyn Chronicles are amazing. A lot better than most other games. Though the music could be worked on a bit. The sound effects aren’t like the other Rpg and games for N64. Its not one of those 'go close to an object and you'll start hearing sounds'. Instead you start hearing them even when you can't see what's making the sounds. And when you approach whatever it is the sound gets louder and louder.

Score: 9

Graphics-
I never really liked the graphics in Aidyn Chronicles. Even with the expansion pack, it doesn't make much of a difference. The npcs and yourself are almost just rendered blocks. The landscape isn't that creative either, just your basic a tree over there, a hill, mountains in the background, grass, etc.

Score: 7

Replay ability-
I have not replayed the game yet, but there is some replay ability in the game. For example, once you beat the game you can replay it, except this time chose a entirely different party, or turn Alaron into a mage, explore the things you didn’t explore the first time, the list goes on.

Score: 10

Is it worth it?-
YES! The game was worth my $50. Some might not agree. If you choose to buy it you will soon find out that this will be one of the best games you have ever played. If you rent it you will most likely not want to buy the game anymore because of the rough and boring start the game offers. If you truly want to see a great game, dish out $50 and play the game for more than 2 hours.

Score: 10

Overall Aidyn Chronicles is a great game. Just because it's boring at first keep playing it anyways. Play it for more than 2 hours and you'll start to see how good this game is.

Final Score: 9.0
