"Grab your whip, stake, & holy water...then Run Away...VERY FAR AWAY"

Well first off...What happened to the Belmonts?? Okay let's take a great game that has always done well and screw it up from the beginning. Now don't get me wrong..this game has it's good moments. The choice between Reinhardt and Carrie is pretty nice...gives girls a good character which seems to be a common complaint in the growing world of gamers. However Carrie has a bit of an unfair advantage...her attack is mostly long distance...but let a skeleton get close to you and Oh the problems are there.... Reinhardt uses the traditional whip and accessory weapons...there isn't really much to say..the whip is blocky and non fluid..it looks very unrealistic compared to the surroundings which are very eerie. The music also compliments the game's atmoshpere very well, it has always been good in every castlevania game and is probably the only tradition that holds true in this version...

So you may be wandering...did he or did he not like this game..

The answer No, I didn't. In my opinion the game is NOT castlevania. A very limited number of enemies makes the fights very repetitive or how about the skeletons on motorcycles...I think that the enemies should fit the time frame of the game. The enemies usually gang up and approach from all angles making the game frustratingly difficult. The added depth of 3-d gaming makes some of the jumps almost impossible although you can be quite a distance away from a ledge, facing the opposite direction and your character will magically grab the ledge...The lack of the TRUE castlevania characters leaves this game lacking in my opinion. However I give this game a 7 out of 10, because as much as I hate to admit it, the N-64 has a poor line of games available but Castlevania 64 is one of the better attempts and a good game....
