Review by Tenshi No Shi

"Doom has never loked better..."

It can be said that, without a doubt, Doom is the reason we love FPS'. Its simple yet addictive game play paved the road for dozens of new games, thus defining a genre of game play. Now we get a new version for a new system, but is it really all that new?

You are the same Marine from the previous Dooms returning to the space installation you though you cleared before. All the demons have been resurrected and are ready to kick your ass.

Though definitely an improvement over previous Doom games, it still not as good as Quake. I would love to see Doom in full 3D, and I thought this might be my chance, but alas...

Always mood setting, the music and sound definitely adds environment to the game. Some of the music will creep you out, and you'll swear that you're being stalked while moving slowly through a barely lit hall.

Controls for Doom 64 are really smooth and easy to get use to. You can do all the important things you need to do in an FPS on the N64 controller. Though the placement may seem a little awkward, if you play the game enough, it'll become second nature.

Doom 64 was designed for the N64 in mind and it shows. While it may simple rather simple compared to most games, Dooms expansive levels, unique puzzles, and superb graphics (for Doom) all take full use of Nintendo's 64-bit machine.

As per a typical Doom game, there are hidden levels (that are really well designed) plus a brand new weapon that you can level up! It may not seem like a lot, but considering its an FPS, its a gold mine!

Though we now have Quake and Quake II on the N64, fans may still want to check into Doom 64. Its a well made game that really shows the roots of the genre and make for an enjoyable gaming experience.
