Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Review by Bad Sonic
"One of the best Flying Games!!!"
What did we all love about Shadows of the Empire? If you said, "the flying levels!" then you agreed with what most people said. The people all said they wanted more flying, less walking. Lucas Arts heard you all!! They answered with Rogue Squadron, a game which was highly anticipated. I was happy when my friend got it for Christmas, since I finally got to play it. I thought it was cool, except for those little flaws... Graphics wise, this game was great. One of the first games to use the expansion pack (wasn't it the first out to use it?) and the graphics are awesome. They are very crisp and clean. The little jet trail the space ship things leave behind is very cool looking. The missiles and lasers look very nice. The graphics were very well done. Play control was also pretty good. I liked to go in city levels and just try maneuvering around in between the buildings and try not to crash...hehe usually I used the A-wing for that. It is fun, :) The planes are simple to fly, you just hold A and turn. To shoot you push B. Wow I just taught you the controls! Some planes (I now call those space ship things planes ok) have other controls, but most are just those simple things. Gameplay was very good, except for a few flaws I found. I didn't like the speed. I felt like I was going very slow. I wanted to go around hauling ass, but I found myself flying around like a plane from Delta Airlines. What was up with that. I really did not like the lack of speed. Also, I didn't like the enemy's, and the way your colleges helped you. I felt my colleges were stupid pieces of crap, you just said, "hey, look at me, I am a stupid piece of crap and I like committing suicide. I hope you save me before I die." And I thought, personally, that the enemies said, "Hey, you can shoot me down, but I have a million friends where that came from, hahaha we are never ending!" I didn't like those rude comments they gave.. :( Replay value isn't all that high either. Once you beat the game, you may like Star Wars so much you go back just to say, "Hey, I am flying an X-Wing. Wow I feel just like Luke Skywalker." But I didn't find the game all that fun. Plus their was NO multiplayer. What the heck, NO MULTIPLAYER? That really made me mad. But for you Star Wars fans, give it a run. I bet you'll like it. The sound was also, pretty good. The lasers sounded cool when they blasted, and the rockets had a nice sound to em. The music sucked, but hey, this is N64! And besides, sound doesn't really matter in my book. Overall, this game has good everything, except for some gameplay flaws, and not much replay value. If it had multiplayer, and was a tad bit faster, I probably would have bought it...Too bad Lucas!!
