Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Review by IBlackman
"Will this game tickle your pickle? Read on...and you'll find out."
Hey friends! This review is going to be short and sweet. Let's get moving alone, shall we....
If you have ever played Turok: Dino' Hunter, you will know basically what to expect. Well, put that stuff away because, this is almost a new game. Yes, I know what you're thinking...how can it be a new game?, what is he talking about?...Let me continue and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Let me begin with the graphics. The first thing you will notice is the new game engine. Everything is beutifully animated and if looks could kill, they would. The water effects...so awesome. The lighting effects are simply the best. Not only does each weapon spare off it's own effect, but so do items that are teleporting in. You'll see your weapon, your hands, and the enviroment shine with the enemies blasts, and the effects of explosions. The animation is also top-notch. The enemies and the enviroment look and act as any enviroment should. Birds fly overhead, doors, ladders, bridges open as if they were right there in front of you. Each enemy moves and reacts to your movement and actions. If you sneak around, they usually won't spot you, and you can get away safe and sound. But if you run around fast and care free you'll find yourself face to face with a baddy. The enemies this time around react to your actions. If you shoot them in the arm, they'll grap it. If you shoot them with a high powered weapon, say adios because they'll probably be in chuncks. The death animations are just fantastic. If you nail them in the head, their head usually blow clear off. Say you whip out your shotgun and blast a raptor it'll loose it's arms and legs. Then of course comes the screaching and the sound of it's blood pumping out onto the walkways. Hmm, it's a good sound.
How about the sound? The sound is awesome. In the first Turok, the music was a little boring. It didn't keep the player emersed in the game. Well in Turok 2, the music rocks! Not only is up beat, but it actually fits the atmosphere. You'll be saying, "damn, this is incredible." The sound effects are also epock making. While playing, you'll hear battles between friend and foe. You'll hear soldiers being slottered and dinos stomping around the next corner. It's simply amazing. Your feet make individual sounds as each foot touches the walkways and the stone bridges. How does the enemies sound? The enemies just roar onto the screen. Yelling in anger, and in brutal agony. You'll hear the enemies fire off their weapons, and you'll hear them go screaching by. Speaking of weapons, each weapon has it's own uniquw sound as well. Whether it's from a pistol, to your flamethrower. Ok, enough with this...I think you get the point. Oh, WAIT! There is one more thing to add. The speach in this game is superb. Turok ,Adon to various enemies all have speach. You'll hear them telling you how you must protect this, and how you'll never defeat the primagen. It's just icredibly envolving.
How's the control? Well, this is basically the only factor that get's on my nerves. The control seems a little be to loose when going trying to turn a circle or jump from bridge to bridge. I found my self making the jump but over doing it, causing me to fall off the edge. Also, targeting seems a little too sensitive. When you're trying to shoot the enemy in the head, it seems that up-c and down-c just don't seem to read the lightness of my figerpress. It might just be the control setting I have mine set too, I don't know. But, over time you'll get accustomed to the controls fallies.
Multiplayer mode: This is great. Once you get this game, invite a bunch of buddies over and experience the satisfaction of killing a monkey. That's right...A MONKEY! Let me explain, there are sever modes to choose from. From every man for themselves to teams, and the awesome frag tag. In this mode, someone is a monkey. You try to hunt down this cutie pie and destroy it. It's a real treate to see the monkey explode into pieces. Just amazing. For all you people out there that loves to play multiplayer games, you might as well buy this game, cause it is worth every penny.
To finish this up, I'll give you some advice. If you're going to purchase this game (and I think you should), you better make sure it's from the second shipment. I had to return my first copy, which happened to be from the fist shipment. The sound effects would flicker in and out, it would freeze up and the screen would go black, and sometimes the framerates would drop, making it totally unplayable. The second and later shipments are just perfect. You'll never experience any proplems at all. Perfect everything...just amazing. You'll probably won't have any proplems with this now, since there have been many shipments made. Just keep this in mind so you won't have to exchange it for another copy or go through any harrasments. Rush to town, and buy this game. It's the best....
