"Frustrating, but fun."
This game is HARD. REALLY hard. One of the hardest games I own; it even rivals those old NES games! It's still fun though, with so many levels to destroy. That's right, the object of the game is to blow up everything in site! You can choose from a variety of different vehicles, ranging from a dump truck to a huge flying robot. This game is pretty good, but do you really want it? Find out:
Graphics: 7/10
A lot of things are pretty bland, like the backgrounds, and most levels have basically the exact same landscape as the last. The explosions are good, but the buildings are plain. They are like giant painted wooded blocks, looking very unrealistic when halfway destroyed. The game was pretty early, and looked pretty good for it's time I suppose, but not be today standards.
Sound: 7/10
The music isn't bad, it's pretty good, but not the best. Some tunes sound like really dorky square dancing music. The sound effects are good enough, I guess. Why does this area lose a point? Well, when are doing something extremely hard, and you are very frustrated, your comrades will say something like, ''Are you running away or something?'' Or some stupid woman will say ''Fantastic!'' in a really annoying voice if you destroy something. On the large map where you choose what level to go to, this other voice keeps saying ''Time to get movin'!'' over and over and OVER in the MOST annoying voice in the game! I usually turn the sound down in this game.
Gameplay: 6/10
I sure like to give out sevens, don't I? Well, the game is a fun blow up everything in path game, but it isn't as fun doing it in a dump truck as it is in a tank or space ship. The game is EXTREMELY frustrating in more levels than not, so it'll lose a couple points here.
Replay: 8/10
This game is, if you haven't figured it out, very hard, so you'll always come back to at least try and beat the game. Some may say it's too frustrating and quit. In all level, you get medals, depending on how many buildings you destroyed and how many RDU's you triggered. (Little lights that turn on when you get near them.) A good thing about this game is your progress is saved, so you don't have to redo every level each time you enter it. *Whew*
Buy or Rent:
Well, it is a Rareware game, but it's not Rare at it's finest. If you plan on beating the game 100%, buy it. If you're not sure, rent it.
