"If you're looking to beat the crap out of monsters, get Resident Evil 2, and pass this one by."

What did I say when I first played Nightmare Creatures, on N64...? Holy @&%$@%! It was amazing. You can hack zombies in half with swords, blow the head off a werewolf with a shotgun. Then as I got further, the worse it got.

Graphics- Nightmare Creatures was originally on Playstation, so when NC lept to the N64, the graphics got ten times better. Unfortunately, to much fog and blackness makes it unable to see anything that's 3 feet in front of you. The monsters and characters look good, but the environment needs a little handiwork. The 1800s London setting in this game strikes the mood perfectly.

Sound- The sound is pathetic. You can barely hear the gunfire of the shotgun, and the music is too low and dreary (although there are some creepy tunes that give you a slight chill). The monsters roars and growls could sound better also.

Control- Even more pathetic than the sound. The horrible camera views and the constant changing of the character direction does not mesh well at all. In small, compact areas, you can't help but curse the game out. The monsters constantly avoid and block your hits, so you could be fighting one guys for at least 3 hours.

Overall- The game can be gory, scary, and breath-taking and that's what will make you at least try it out. The controls and sound are very low in quality, but does not hinder the game to the point where you want to rip it out of the machine and bash it with a nine iron. If you want a couple of nights of zombie hacking, go ahead and rent it. However, this game is not buyable.
