Beetle Adventure Racing
Review by MattR
"You looking for a fast-paced, action packed, challenging racer? Then look no further"
Well, before I actually start reviewing this awesome game, I just want to say that you have purchased or rented one of the best Nintendo 64 racers of all time. So, sit back, and read this if you want to know a little bit more about it.
Presentation-
This game is good right from the start. The menus are very easy to navigate, and do not contain anything really complex. They are straight forward, and get you to the game quickly. A definite plus!!
Graphics-
Some of the best graphics ever seen in a racer. The cars are beatifully drawn with very accurate detail. I mean, you can even see the little(and I mean little) fog lights at the bottom of each car. The cars are accurate and look exactly like the real thing. There are some framerate problems when a lot of dirt or smoke flares up, but nothing that will make you shut the game off. Plus, the framerate drops are very rare. Overall, graphics are extremely good
Sound-
Ok, we are talking like the best sounds effects ever in this game. If the car goes over a different terrain, your gonna hear. Skidding out actually sounds like skidding out, and you can even hear the snow beneath the tires. The music is great also, but can sometimes get a little boring. Overall, sound is very good and helps this game a lot.
Gameplay-
And now the thing you've probably been waiting for. How does this game actually play? Well, I'll tell you that you won't get bored very quickly. The first few racers a little easy, and coming in first is a cinch. But, once you progress, get ready for some really touch tracks. Plus, the tracks are huge, long, and have plenty of shortcuts. The tracks will keep you occupied for hours. The controls are pretty easy to use, but can get a little tiresome on the fingers if you like to use the hand brake.
Lasting Appeal-
The different modes will draw you in and keep you there for awhile. The Beetle Battle is awesome, and you and your friends will be busy for hours. Overall, this game is gonna last a good while, but it does get boring sooner or later
The Bottom Line-
If you want a fun, racer that doesn't make fun of you if you come in last, then his is your game. I could have given this game a 10, but there are some minor problems, that I am sure you will get over. In the end, buy this game if you love racing, and battles with friends. Renting it will also give you the full affect, but owning it lets you explore everything. Have fun!!
