Quest 64
Review by crazymonkey
"I felt like I've wasted 5$"
Quest64 is crap. It was the first RPG to be released for N64, so I expected something very good, or at least average. This game is bad exmaple of an RPG. I'll explain why in the review. Now, on to the review.
Graphics: 5/10
The graphics in this game is about the only thing in Quest64 that's not too bad. The terrain is okay, but the developers could have done better. The towns are like mazes, and the houses are poorly detailed. The bosses are look stupid, as most of them look like normal townspeople. The basic enemies, however, are beautifully detailed. Most of the game is extremely colorful, but in some areas, the colors are so bright it's unreal. The spells graphics are VERY poor. The fire lv.1 spell looks like you're shooting red cotton candy at you're enemies.
Sound: 1/10
The music in Quest64 is boring and repetitive. They often use the same music over and over again, only they add a new instrument. In the dungeons, the music gets very annoying when you've been walking around in it for hours. The battle music is worse. The sound effects are just plain horrible. Almost EVERY single spell in the game makes the same ''thump'' when it hits an enemy.
Storyline: 1/10
The storyline is so short and boring, it's not funny. The whole story can be summed up in one short senetence: You have to go out to search for a book and you're dad. *yawn* For most of the game, the townspeople keep telling you that, too.
Gameplay: 1/10
for the first 30 minutes or so, this game seems okay because the battle system is different from other RPGs. Soon it gets annyoing since you have to fight an enemy every 4 steps. The battle system is horrible, since if fight in a hilly area, half the time you can't see yourself. It's very easy to skip your turn when using the staff becuase you have to hit the A button right when the symbol appears. If you twitch the control stick a little, you miss. Another annoying aspect is that you have to walk so close you're breathing in the enemies face so that most of the spells will hit. In the later parts of the game, the enemies get insanely hard because they start attacking you in groups of 5 or 6. The bosses are always much easier than the basic enemies. You're character walks very slow, so dungeons can take hours. The main reason the gameplay is bad is because their isn't money in this game. You just get stuff from townspeople. If use it all up and save, you get no more. The dungeons are very boring. Their aren't any puzzles in the dungeons, so all you do is walk and fight enemies. It's very annoying to die in a dungeon, because then you have to the whole stupid thing all over again. When you finally view the pathetic ending for this game, you'll want to smash the Quest64 game catrridge with a hammer.
Replay Value: 1/10
After you finally view the pathetic ending, you should probably put this game in box, never to be touched again. Since there are 0 sidequests in this game, and it's so short, it's not worth replaying.
Rent or Buy?
If you want to experience this awful game for yourself, rent it. it's not worth it to waste 30$ on crap like this.
