Nintendo 64
Review by Madgamer
"Playstation's competition is right behind it!"
The Nintendo 64 is actually an amazing system for using a cartridge format. The graphics are just as good as Playstation one, even though it slightly lacks the sound effects. Now let's check out the specs.
Library: The making of a system. And this one couldn't hold the bundle. There are 4 series' that come to mind ( Banjo Kazooie, Mario, Zelda, and Donky Kong) when looking for good games, and of course Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is a classic, yet that's only ten out of 100 and something. Everything else, except a few others, lacks in every spot Dreamcast, Playstation one, and Playstation 2 make up at. This system definitly fell here.6/10
Graphics: Not bad. Definitly up to par with Playstation one. That's really good, considering Playstation one games are CD's and these are cartridges. Though this has some horrible graphics for some games, but so does Playstation. I've never actually played Dreamcast, I've heard the graphics are better than this. And the Playstation two is 3 times as good as this.7/10
Sound: Pretty well for most games. Same as the last paragraph. Playstation one is slightly better, mainly because of it's format. Playstion 2 blows it away, and Dreamcast is suppose to. This seems to have less voices though.7/10
Design: Okay. It's a black, curved box with a power switch ( Not button) and a reset button. I like the Playstations power button better than the Nintendo 64's switch. Pretty plain design.6/10
Controllers: Better than Playstation one to me! It has Z, A, and B. 3 more than Playstation one. Yet Playstion one has 2 L's and R's. This controller has the four C's, which is like Playstations 4 buttons. It's also comfy.8/10
Extra: This thing is a money hog. Games cost more than Playstation2! And why do you need an exspansion. It's suppose to be good already! You have to buy a rumble pack, while Playstation one controllers have it built in. The memory cards are evil because only a few games need it, but those that you do aren't fun without them. What really save's this is having four outlet's so you don't have to buy a multi-tap!5/10
In conclusion, buy Playstation one. It's about the same price, the games are cheaper, and it's graphically superior. I've also heard the Dreamcast is excellent for 99.99. And that's suppose to be almost as good as Playstation two! Well, see ya' next time!
