"The same as FIFA 97"

FIFA 64 is basically the same as the PSX version of FIFA 97. So if you have FIFA 97 for the PSX, don't bother buying FIFA 64, in fact, don't even bother reading this review.

Gameplay - 8/10
This game is the worst of all of the FIFA games out for the N64 but it isn't so bad either. You can choose teams from different leagues such as FIFA, USA, Italy, England, France, and Germany. One thing that sucks is that this game has no MLS license so the USA league is fake. The players in the game do most of the stuff the real players do in real life like diving headers, tackles, and a whole lot of weird kicks. The goal keepers have good AI so there wouldn't be much goals scored easily.

Graphics - 8/10
The graphics look very realistic. The stadium looks real, the crowd looks real, the players look real, the ball looks real, the turf looks real, and the sky looks real. When you change the weather only the sky changes. The turf is brighter when the sky is brighter.

Sound - 8/10
The sounds sound very realistic. The crowd cheer, boo, and even go awhhh when somebody misses the net. The announcer sounds great and isn't annoying. And you can hear the ball get kicked and catched, too.

Controls - 8/10
The controls are pretty simple and don't take that long to get used to. They can be set to two different settings. The controls in setting 1 for offence are: C-Down is lob, A is pass, B is shoot or clear, C-Left is speed up, and C-Up is rainbow kick. In defence, they are: B is tackle, A is switch player, C-Down is slide tackle, C-Up is hard tackle, and C-Left is speed up. The controls in setting 2 for offence are the same as the ones in setting 1 but in defence their different. In defence they are: B (Tap) is tackle, A is switch player, B (Hold) is slide tackle, C-Up is hard tackle, and C-Left is speed up.

Features - 8/10
You can change the weather of the game you're going to play, change the language of the game (the announcer will still speak english when you choose a different language), change the camera angles, and manage the team. There's a whole lot of camera angles to choose from and you can even have a PIP camera. The camera angles are TV Cam, Sideline Cam, Cable Cam, Endzone Cam, Stadium Cam, Shoulder Cam, Ball Cam, and FIFA 64 Cam.

Overall - 8/10
The game is the worst of all the FIFA games out for the N64 because it's basically the same as the PSX version of FIFA 97 and FIFA 97 wasn't too good. But this game is pretty cool and entertaining. My advice is get the other FIFA games because their better than this one but you can still buy this game if you want and you won't be disappointed.
