The New Tetris

"Follows in the Tetris tradition..............."
The New Tetris is really not the new Tetris. It is very similar to Tetris for NES, Tetris for SNES, Tetris for Game Boy, Tetris for PC. But, Tetris is one of the best games of all time, and this version does have some enhancements, so it is also a very, very good game. I would hope you know the basics of Tetris, but if not...... Tetris is a puzzle game, in which the objective is to make a full line of blocks horizontally, which is then eliminated from the screen. Blocks are continually falling from the top of the screen. The more lines you complete, the higher the level, and the higher the level, the faster they fall.
Graphics: 9/10
Very sharp and bright. Not much else to say, really, seeing as how they're only blocks.........
Sound: 9/10
A lot of different, sometimes weird tracks. Acceptable, however. When you're deep into a game of Tetris, you're not noticing the music much anyway. It fits the part.
Gameplay: 10/10
Ah, gameplay. The pride of all Tetris games. Since it is a puzzle game, gameplay is obviously where The New Tetris thrives. It is much of the same, but with some added features. You can now play with up to four of your friends. Not only is it fun to be directly competing with your friends, but you can directly affect their play. Case in point: if you score a Tetris, "garbage" will appear on their screen. Garbage is a line of blocks speckled with holes, meaning its in the way and cauing trouble. It is very satisfying to see your opponents neatly kept screen ruined by several lines of garbage.
Replay: 10/10
The single player game is madly addictive by itself, but the multiplayer just pushes it into the stratosphere. If you love Tetris, you will never tire of this game. Ever.
Overall: 10/10
A worthy game to bear the Tetris name. Solid gameplay, great added features, decent music and good graphics means one great game. Games like this are what the Nintendo 64 really needs.
