NFL Blitz 2000
Review by MattR
"Better than the original, but not that much better"
Ok, well I would just like to say that this game is a very good one. My one-liner you saw before you clicked on this might have you believe that the game is not good. But, I assure you, it has everything the original had and more. If you bought this game, good job, and if you rented it, even better. Read on to see why renting is better than buying
Breakdown:
Presentation - The game makes a great impact, and presentation is top-notch. The menus are easy to navigate and portray the sense that this is a no holds barred tackle-fest! I give Presentation a 9.
Graphics - Graphics a pretty good. There is nothing really great, but if you played the original, you can expect pretty much the same graphics. The players are large and chunky, and the colors are pretty bright. The team colors are more or less the right ones. Hands are a little squished, but that really doesnt affect anything. Overall, graphics are good - 8.
Sound - Sound is great. Players moan and groan prefectly, and the hits sound pretty good. The music can get a little annoying when it is playing during a game, but there is an option to turn it off. Overall, sound effects are great, and sound like the real thing - 9.
Gameplay - Controls are, well, cake. You can't get much more easier than this folks. There is a new passing system, but it is still point and pass; very easy!! The controls are pretty basic, and either the control stick or the D-pad can be used. (I prefer the D-pad, it just makes it easier). The players are easy to control, and there is no sluggishness. There are some framerate drops only when the game zooms out and shows many players at once. But, it is nothing major. The announcer can get a little boring after he starts repeating the same lines. There are even some lines used from the previous game. The players still give their comments after the play, and they are as intimidating as ever. Endzone dances are great, although there aren't many new ones. One bad thing is that tackles are still basically the same. There are some new tackles thrown in, but in all, they are still the same. Overall, gameplay = good. - 8
Lasting Appeal - If you don't have any friends or syblings to play the game with, it gets old real fast. But, if you have some friends get ready for a very good fottball game. Four player mode is great, and will keep you occupied for days. - 8
Overall - This is a very good game that carries on the Blitz legacy. The game shows some new additions, such as play editor, and "being on fire", but there are too many of the same tackles and sayings taken from the previous game. I reccomend that you rent the game, because it does get old rather quickly. But, if you did buy it, you won't be dissapointed.
