"It Tries, But it is Just to Easy, and Non-Realistic"

All Star Baseball 2000 Is one of the best baseball games on the Nintendo 64 behind the sequel All Star Baseball 2001. That unfortunately isn't saying that much though. The Nintendo 64 has had problems with the sports games, and this game is not much better at all. While it's not a bad game, it is only mediocre. The scoring is as followed.

GRAPHICS:9

They are not too bad for the 64. Some players do actually look like their real life counterpart. I have to say at first I did like the graphics, and they are pretty good. Sometimes they clip though, and that's not too good. Also, the crowd looks like they are just thrown in, and not much work was put in to them. The graphics were a lot better than 99, so there was some improvement. And, the stadiums do like the team's actual field so I was impressed with that! This is the games strong point.

SOUND:5

There is one song in the game, and that is at the start of the game, and It Is not that great at all. The most annoying part about the sound is the commentating. I get so sick and tired of listening to the announcers saying the same comments over, and over. I turn the sound off it is so annoying. I absolutely hate the commentating, and gives me a major headache.

GAMEPLAY:6

The game tries to deliver real like baseball but It is just too easy. I score well over 100 runs every game easily, without even trying. I use the Atlanta Braves and almost every one of my players deep in a season has over 100 home runs. It's really not as fun as it sounds. It's quite annoying to try to miss the ball, and you get a home run. That is not realistic at all. Don't expect any pitching duels in this game unless you are pitching. Guess what? That is easy too. You will have to force yourself to play 9 innings. It's really not that good. At least it has a franchise mode, and a home run derby which make it a little better, but not much.

STORY:6

The story is like every baseball game ever made. You are a team out to win ball games and are going to try and win a World Series. You pick any team, and try to make it there to make you the champions!

CHALLENGE:1

This is the easiest baseball game I have ever played. No challenge whatsoever. You will not even try in this game and you will end up will some unheard of number as your final runs for the games, and usually the opposing team will have from 0-3. I have gone through a whole season 162-0 and I tried hardly at all. All my players were at some weird number they couldn't go past so just about every players stats were the same at the end.

REPLAY:8

If you have a friend come over that has never played It Is fun when they come over and you start hitting every pitch they throw for home runs. After about a few hours of playing a half of an inning you will turn it off because it gets seriously boring.

BUY/RENT:RENT

If you own a 64, rent this game maybe. It is only a rent at the most. It's not that great of a game, and If your looking for a better one, but not by much, try All Star Baseball 2001. Rent it if you have nothing else to do but hit home runs with pitchers all day.

OVERALL:5

I was very disappointed with this game. I was expecting a lot and received very little. Don't buy this game unless you are wanting to build a dust collection around your games. I'm sure I have cobwebs around my game. I made the mistake of buying this one, and I hope you don't. It's not that great, and is to easy, and is just a mediocre baseball game.
