Hot Wheels Turbo Racing
Review by thegame85
"A great racing game without millions of laps!"
Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is a game like no other I have played. You race in Hot Wheels Cars and on crazy tracks. Throughout the game you get the opportunity to unlock hidden cars and tracks. If you are like me and think that stock car racing with 500 laps is flat out boring, you wont be disappointed in this game. This isn't your ordinary racing game.
Graphics-(7/10) The graphics are quite good, each car has different colors and features that all look great. Each level is very detailed.
Control-(8/10) Each car handles differently, but overall the controls are very easy to remember and things like backing up and turning while backing up are easily done. There is a PANIC button that you can use if you get stuck in a corner or whatever. It'll put you back on your feet but you will be a little farther back then where you were.
Throughout each track there are many ramps and drops. When you are in the air you perform tricks with the control stick. The harder the trick the more ''BOOSTS'' you get. If you press Z (im pretty sure its Z), you will get a speed boost. You can hold up to about 8 or 9 boosts in a little box in the corner.
Sound-(6/9) The sound is average, each time you push pause on the track a new song will play. The explosions when you crash, the braking, and the acceleration are all adequate. There isnt very much pazazz when it comes to the sound.
Difficulty-(6/10) The difficulty on this game can be very closely related to Mario Kart 64. You can go perfect for 80% of the race but mess up at the end and be screwed. But it still provides some difficulty and isnt nearly as easy as Mario Kart.
Funfactor-(8/10) This game is very fun. The multiple cars and tracks keep the game from going stale.
Replay-(8/10) The replay value on this game is quite high. It definitely wont be one of those games that you play for a month and then rarely ever play it again. This was the 2nd game I got for the Nintendo 64 and I still play it today
Overall:(7/10) Like I said before, this game has good replay value, fun levels, hidden secrets; it definitely will keep you coming back for more. But after so long it will start to lose its appeal, around 6 months or so. Also, a good amount to pay for this game would be around 25 dollars or anything less.
