Asteroids Hyper 64

"It's mediocre, I'll give it a 5"

Asteroids Hyper 64, just another so-so shooter for the Nintendo 64 bit console. This game is overall just plain average, I mean but don't get me wrong, this game isn't a COMPLETE failure, I am a BIG fan of the old-school Atari classics, but this game just doesn't really cut it for me. Now on with the details.....

Gameplay (7/10)

Hmm....they're are three types of difficulty modes to this game, there's easy, medium, and hard. It took me 2 days to beat it on easy, about a week on medium, and hard...well, that wasn;t a cakewalk. The controllers have pretty smooth response as far as the controllers go, so I'll give this category a 7.

Graphics (8/10)

This game is quite a bit of eye candy, it has detailed backgrounds, detailed enemies, the graphics are great. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this particular part of the game.

Story (4/10)

Well, you do have various missions to go through, but there isn't any real story that is to be known of, I'll give this game the 4 points it deserves.

Music/Audio (5/10) (7/10)

This game really doesn't have any music besides the music during the intro and between levels, and that music is way too linear for my tastes. The sound is fine, they're very basic and won't annoy you at all, you'll hear the crunching of asteroids, your ship making a funny noise, and the sound of your ship blowing up, so the sounds are ok.

Replay Value (6/10)

This game has three different difficulties to play off of, and it also has an OK multiplayer, and you can unlock certain modes to play in the menu section, but I didn't really care to play through this game after I beat it on all three difficulties.

This is an OK game, it has it's fair share of flaws, but when you look at games like Superman, Carmaggeddon, etc., that will make you appreciate mediocre games like these.....
