Duke Nukem Zero Hour

"This could have been great."

Hello. I've never been a huge fan of Duke Nukem. His games were never greatly received. I've played The original, and Duke Nukem 3D. Not much else. The latest Duke game I've played is horrible. It could have been a great 1st person shooter. Instead, a mediocre 3rd person adventure replaced it.

Gameplay: 2/10 Probably the worst part of the game. There are 8 diferent control styles. They all suck! They are all akward. They all involve either moving with The C- buttons, D-Pad, or control stick. But that's not all. You have to use one of the latter to look around. Sounds easy, right? Wrong!
It gets very annoying. Since the game uses all of the buttons, you need three hands to play the game fully. As I said, this could of been a nice 1st person shooter. But somehow at GT Software, they said: ''Gee let's make this game innovative and make it really hard to control. Oh, let's put in 1st peron controls with a 3rd person view.'' There is a cheat that allows you to see in 1st person. But there's still those sucky controls. Sigh!

Story: 9/10 Aliens are attackign Earth, and Duke has to stop them by traveling through time. Not bad, considering the rest of the game stinks.

Graphics: 8/10 The graphics can be set to high-res, or normal. I tried it on high res. It wasn't all that great, so I'm assuming that the normal ones aren't good either. Considering this is a N64 game, I wasn't expecting much.

Sound: 10/10 The music is good, The voices are great even for an N64 game. This is the best part of the game.

Multiplayer: 8/10 I haven't played played this much, since the 1-player mode pissed me off so much. I've heard that it is awesome, and from what I experienced, it was pretty good.

Replay: 6/10 If you don't like the game, you won't wanna play it again. But if somehow, you did, you will. The Multiplayer really saves this.

The Good: It's Duke, and the graphics, sound, story, and multiplayer are good.

The Bad: The gameplay ruins the game entirely, hence the overall being 5/10.

The Ugly: Giant mutant pigs. Whoa.

Rent/by: Neither. This is such a bad game because of the gameplay. Don't even rent it.

Well, yet another game ruined because of gameplay. The controls were so bad I didn't even make it through the first level because I was so pissed. Goodnight. I have to calm down now.
