Command and Conquer 64 Review

Command and Conquer is a fun strategy game which some plot twisting and interesting missions. Some missions are way harder than others, regardless of the level number. You can play as two groups; the GDI and NOD. As GDI, you are trying to save Europe from Kane, leader of NOD. GDI missions are based more on base building missions and are a bit easier.
As NOD, your goal is to take control of Africa. There are a few plot twists as Nod, and the missions are harder. Most missions are hit and run and a lot different from GDI missions.

Gameplay: 85/100 (B)
Good gameplay overall, but can sometimes be easy or very annoying. But, overall, it is great, and is packed with action and battles galore. Although the AI could have been worked on some more. You can trick the AI in some ways or they are too dumb to launch an attack larger than 6-10 units. But, all's fair in love and war, find their weak points and exploit them.

Challenge: 90/100 (A-)
Pretty good challenge, but as I said, the AI is fairly dumb in some parts. You just have to be smart and find the way the computer does things. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a friend or two to help out on some missions, to give you tips and all.

Sound: 70/100 (C-)
Fair. Not the best, though. Not much to say, but it's hard to hear your briefings. If you like to use a gameshark, the sound will be blocked off when you use it. Also, the music is so-so. I was not thrilled by this part, but it'll do.

Graphics: 80/100 (B-)
I guess they are okay, but you cannot see faces and the game REALLY slows down when a building blows up or a nuke hits. The terrain is great and the view is good. I never played the computer version, though, so I don't know what the graphics on that are like.

Replay Value: 92/100 (A-)
I was debating between a 90 or a 95, so I chose a 92. There are plenty of missions, and you should try different methods out and find new ways of crushing the enemy. Good replay value!

Control: 75/100 (C)
Mediocre. Sometimes, clicking on suck small units and trying to work with those stupid harvesters is annoying, so I gave it a ''C.'' Just be careful, and make use of all the special features and it won't be too hard. Just watch who your clicking and don't accidentally click where you don't want to.

To Buy...or To Rent.....
Rent, then if you like it, buy. Not much to say, but I played it at my brother's house during a weekend, rented it, than bought it. It's a good game, but hard to find nowadays in a place like Walmart.
