Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs

"I just hope they remake it for PS2."

Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs is an extremely cool game where you can control either the Russian or American side. Cool ships and awesome gameplay make this one a hit you'll be popping in years from now. I just hope they come out with a version with improved media for the PS2. That would be an awesome event.

GRAPHICS:
It's N64. Come on. Anyways, they probably seemed better when it was released, but looking on it now, I'm more critical. They're fair, but not the best graphical achievement of the N64, and certainly not enough to compete with the next-gen systems. But, reviewing it now, I don't think graphics are the main concern.

SOUND:
Practically none, but the voice-overs are good. I like the sound of your vehicle speeding over the ground at high speeds, heading to blow an enemy to bits. You can't really hear the explosions too well, though.

GAMEPLAY/CONTROLS:
Very good. The controls are well placed for battles.
In gameplay, you drive your vehicle around and find enemies, buildings, and vehicles you're supposed to destroy or capture. The battles are awesome, especially when you're armed with many different weapons. You can even fight after you're out of the ship!
Getting another vehicle sounds simple but proves to be aggravating sometimes. You have to equip a sniper rifle (which only has a few shots) and fire at the pilot. When you kill him, you'll know by the vehicle dropping on to the ground. You can also get vehicles by going back to your home base and getting any left over ones.

STORYLINE:
I was very surprised. When looking at this game, I thought it would just be ''kill this guy, save him, kill this one'', but it's not. It tells about a future space race between us and the soviets. You can talk with your commanders and fellow pilots, along with people below you.
The story takes you to space, from the moon to Jupiter to Mars to Pluto and back again. Very cool.

MULTIPLAYER:
Multiplayer is pretty good, actually. You choose your vehicle and then vehicles for your 3 other computer controlled opponents, then go head to head with your friend. If I remember right, you can also have 4 people on a team against the computer! Completely cool.

BUY OR RENT:
Buy! This is a game well worth twenty dollars, and I've seen places sell for less than that. I think you'll be glad you did. So buy buy buy!
