"Is 2-D really out?"

Many people see that a game is 2-D on a 3-D system and just judge it to be bad. That’s not the case here. This game is very good for a rainy day, or being very bored. The story is lacking, but its entertainment value is good. Its addictiveness is high as well. This is not a bad game by any means. I recommend it to anyone just looking for a game to play for a little while.

Graphics: 6/10

Even though the game is in 2-D the graphics aren’t bad. They again, are lacking but are good nonetheless. The objects in the game appear 3-D but you’re stuck on one side of them. You can also make out what everything is in the game. It also has some short cut scenes that are make use of very good graphics.

Sound: 8/10

The music is not bad. You can’t expect a lot from the N64 voice wise, but this game uses some voices. When you take damage Marina says “Ouch”, and she has a few other words as well. The SFX is very good. It’s crisp and clear. This gets an 8/10 only because you expect people to talk on the N64.

Game Play: 7/10

This game has a lot of variety in its game play. There is a level where you compete in an Olympics type challenge. You also don’t jump on enemies, like the Mario series, you throw them, which is a nice touch. You also get to play 2 levels as another character, which really gave this game play its points.

Story: 5/10

Not the best but it’s still okay. Basically Marina is a robot trying to save her beloved Professor from some freaky aliens called Clancers. You end up getting yourself in deep and having to defeat the evil empire. There is also a twist at the end that you can only see if you collect all the gold gems. If you have a lot of time on your hands try to get them all.

Buy/Rent: 4/10

I wouldn't buy this game because it offers little to no replay value. I would, however, rent this game. If you know you have a boring weekend coming up, rent this game and beat it. There is somewhat of a challenge in the fact that you try to collect all the gold gems.

Overall: 6/10

Beside the fact that after you beat you’ll never play it again it’s a good game. Go rent this game NOW! You probably won’t be disappointed!
