"A tone down version of the PC"

One day they had a game sale at my local game shop. I went there and saw this. I was like ''ah cool ,I'm buying it''. Bad mistake. I already had the PC version, and I thought about the multi-player. So I bought it, went home and started to play it. Now this is were the real nightmare begins.

Graphics- 8
-----------
Now this is where the game is that best. I seems to me that this is a pretty good port of the PC version. All the enemies look nice. Weapons look good to. The water graphics (on my computer anyways) are better than on the game, which didn't surprise me due to this was a Nintendo 64 game. The graphics also make it a little hard to see some stuff sometimes though. The only reason this got a 8 , is because it's still some of the best graphics on the N64. I thought they could have worked alittle bit more hard on the slowdown problem, which we'll get to a little later.

Control-3
---------
No offense to the people who like this controller or anything. The controller of the N64 just isn't cut out for this. If I ever set down and play this game, even to today, the controllers are still to odd. The joystick is a nice touch, that's the only reason it got any points. You can also still move your head, which was a achievement to the gaming community when this game came out. The controller is just like......BLAH. I don't even want to explain the buttons. If you buy this game you will see what I'm talking about.

Gameplay-6
----------
Saved only by multi-player. Though this game gets old so fast single player. It's the same thing over and over. Go here, find this key, do something with this door, rinse, repeat. When me and some of my friends comeover, we play this sometimes, though super smash brother melee is better, it's still good for a few rounds of trash talk. Now I was talking about this in the graphics section. The most horrid thing ever about this game...........the slowdown. It is sorta heavy in my humble opinion. When you got 4 people going, have fun. The slowdown isn't like the freeze, then not move for about 3 seconds. Though it seems to strike during a big fight with 4 people. Other than that, the single player, if you like FPS, and also like to do the same thing over and over, this is for you. Now the PC version is more fun, mostly because of the controls.

That was my review on quake for the N64. Hope I didn't bash it or praise it to much. Now here the question

Rent of Buy?

Rent, only buy if you don't have a computer. (Which seems a little hard due to the fact you reading this, or you got a dreamcast, in which you will go out and buy quake 3 NOW!)

End!
